Basically a prelude to real government, teaching the natives about governance thing. He got his position through a D-Block brokered compromise and same with thing with Adan Cadde. Abdullahi Cisse Mohamud was the first Prime Minister of Somalia. True, when he led Somalia, the country was still under colonialism and was the PM when Europe wanted to transfer the responsibility over to the Somalis. But his official title was The Prime Minister of Somalia. Hence, he deserves that title. And No, Voltage. PM Abdullahi Ciise Mohamud didn't achieve what he did because of Marehan. In fact, Marehan had NO role in Somali politics before the rise of Siyad Barre government.

There was this famous incident when Gen Salad Gabayre put a pistol on the head of the head of Siyad Barre immediately after the coup following an argument. He reminded Siyad Barre about an incident during the 1960s when a Marehan woman was hit by a car in Mogadishu and there wasn't a single Marehan to find in Xamar. Siyad Bare was the nearest Marehan and he was called from Jowhar

As for President Aden Abdulle Osman, he won the elections fair and square. If the Darood were in any power, they would have gained the President seat themselves. The SYL was firmly Hawiye dominated since the 1950s. Hence, PM Abdullahi Cisse victory followed by President Abdulle Osman.

President Aden Abdulle Osman was very visionary leader. In one famous quote he said, the PM takes orders from me and my orders are always fulfilled. If that doesn't happen. I can always ask him to resign. Exact quotes. In 1964 after a power struggle, the Darood PM was OUSTED. Doesn't seem to me a man taking orders from anyone.

In fact, almost all of his sons are also married to MJ women. The guy who sent me that picture is his grandson.

The Father of Somalia, President Aden Abdulle Osman, inherited nothing but by the end of his reign in 1967 Somalia was fast developing and the country was Africa's first successful democracy which was stable and had no political struggles. I could believe that. President Aden Abdulle not only forced his children to go to Somali public schools but even walk to it. He was a man of immense character who never believed in stealing the state treasury. Somalia would have been a modern marvel if it had men of his caliber.

Today his sons are doctors and engineers practicing in Va and Europe. Hard work and honesty pays off in the long run

Most of these Somali leaders look good on paper and on these black and white pics, their actions and accomplishments far lagged behind most nations in Africa.

The author E A Byne in his book Four Ways of Politics: State and Nation in Italy, Somalia, Israel and Iran made precisely this point during his interview with the late President when he was researching for his book:

The President’s hope that a democratic national unity, transcending factional differences, would come out of the domestic political problem had not yet been put in the form of an authoritative ‘request”

“But I believe in a multiparty system,” he continued. “Not too many parties, of course. We are planning a law that will require political groups to be responsible and not just personal followings or temporary interest groups. But I am serious about this- a single party system gives too much temptation for the development of a “man-on-a-horse” who might want to be a dictator.

His awareness of the danger was a reminder of the nature of the roots of democratic practice of the Somalia, and he appeared to be in a convincing way a symbol of Somali political potential as the anthropologist sees it.

Lol @ this attempt to understand Somali history! How could Abdullahi Ciise's official title have been "Prime Minister of Somalia" when Somalia was not an independent country and what he presided over, for that matter, was the the attempts of Italy to show the U.N Trusteeship council it was taking it's own responsibility of preparing former Italian Somaliland to get ready for independence seriously? It was a play thing, like this is how you do it now when you really have to do it you know how kind of thing.

In 1956, Italy gave the preeminent Italian educated at that time, Addan Shire Jama aka Adan Loow (Marehan--reer Dalal Diini) who was the Chief Somali Lawyer in Italian Somaliland the license to conduct a "Somali election" and put together a Somali provincial government which would be a preparation for Somalis in conducting their own elections and governments post-Independence. Adan Loow was reer Dalal Diini, very close to Mareero Diini who was Abdullahi Ciise's mother. Abdullahi Ciise's father died when he was barely 3 and since was raised by his mom with the help of her family and clansmen. Adan Loow had taken on Abdullahi Ciise from earlier and was his patron.

Adan Loow was also the main reason why the Italo-Abyssinian war took place as well as why a "Marehan Union" or "Marehan Progressive Party" was able to put a value on itself as a clan party even while a "Hawiye Union" failed. When he conducted the elections of 1956, he knew the Darod were going to grumble over leadership so he made a compromise in which his nephew, Abdullahi Ciise would be the head of the provincial government and he would exact power from behind. Sure enough as soon as Abdullahi Ciise was legitimized as head of the provincial government, he named his uncle and the man who organized that Italian attempt to show they were preparing Italian Somalis for leadership as his "Interior Minister".



This man early on in his career as an Italian officer was also the reason the Italo-Abbysinian war took place



Also the reason why a "Marehan Union" party existed in 1956 and had power (even though most Marehans were SYL and all Marehan parliamentarians represented SYL) while a "Hawiye Party" had no power. From I.M Lewis





Ironically enough, the man who was working hand in hand with Adan Loow in that 1956 elections overseeing the forming of Somalia's provincial constitution while Loow oversaw the forming of the government was another Marehan, Sheekh Abdulle Mohammed (Marehan-Celi). Not to tribalize this but Marehan were overseeing the whole formation of the government organs!

Abdullahi Ciise only became Hawiye post-1991. His provincial appearance, rise due to the same people who housed, clothed, and educated him namely his abtiyaal. In fact some Majeerteens even admit their control of power in the 60's is due to the lessons they learned from Marehan and their silent control of power in the provincial times when the Majeerteen put a man who was the brother in law of Mj Sultan Muuse Boqor and had him name MJ prime ministers successively, chiefs of police, etc while from the outset it looked like a Addan Cadde government.

As far as Addan Caade goes, enough said.

In fact, almost all of his sons are also married to MJ women.

Makes perfect sense! Personally I have a lot of respect for Addan Cadde, but even the MJs will tell you they primarily kept him in line through his wife. It makes sense all his sons married into the wife's family.

Here is a Sacad site. Nothing in his life was due to Hawiye except being his biological father. His mother was Mareero Diini and his paternal father was her second cousin who remarried her. How does a clan claim a man's achievement they did not contribute a single dime to?
