Sheik Sharif = Lucky Or Not

Post by AbdiWahab252 »

This man is a very lucky man:

1. He rises up from obscurity and becomes the political head of the Union of Islamic Courts after being picked out by Tahir Aweys.

2. He survives the EThiopian invasion and reformulates his political image as a moderate peacenick Islamist.

3. He begins his resistance against the Ethiopian invaders and its client government not solely by calling for armed resistance but uses political tactics such as becoming a voice for peace and showing the world he was for peace through negotiations.

4. He convinces the Int'l community into believing that only an Islamist can deliver peace and works hand in hand with his TFG Counterpart Nur Caade.

5. Manages to get 50% allotment of Parliamentary seats for his ARS group and wins the Djibouti peace conference election.

6. He then gets more international support and recognition of any Somali leader since MSB.

Sheik Sharif is one lucky man  All of his foes are either refugees, IDPs, or ducking in the bush while he sips coffee and enjoys his good fortune.

Begging the international community for spare change isn't what I call lucky. Being president of a country that has become the laughing stock of the entire world isn't what I call lucky. Only controlling a block and a half of Muqdisho isn't what I call lucky. Having a lower lip redder than the turkish flag isn't what I call lucky. But all the best to him anyway  :som: . I don't hate.

Ganjaweed,

My good fellow, he rose from being a dugsi teacher to the highest cabinet in the land without having a militia.

He saw the ship (UIC) was sinking and he changed his tact and survived while his Tahir Aweys allies are wondering in the wilderness.

He deposed the TFG President Yusuf using politics & doing so without firing a bullet.

He has received more international recognition and support than any SOmali leader in postMSB Somalia.

Where are Aweys or Yusuf now ? Irrelevant IDPs or refugees.

I've always been a believer in Sheikh Sharif, he always struck me as an intelligent and reasonable fellow, more interested in bringing peace to the country than gathering power to himself.
