Somalia: Fighting takes place in Mogadishu

Postby Coeus » Wed Jan 05, 2011 5:07 am

Fighting between forces of the Somali Transitional Federal Government backed by the African union peacekeeping forces and Islamist militias of Al-shabab has taken place early this morning in the capital Mogadishu, reports said.

The confrontation occurred in the south Mogadishu and both warring groups exchanged fires and shells killing one and injuring 3 others.

Reports indicate that Al-shabab forces attacked government and AMISOM military bases in Hodan district south Mogadishu.

The shells were falling in between two main roads named Jidka-wadnaha and Jikda-soddanka(Heart-Road and 30-Raod) in the capital Mogadishu, resident said.

There are no sources indicating the casualties reached to the warring groups in Mogadishu and this war comes a day after the arrival of Ambassador Augustin Mhiga in the capital Mogadishu who had talks with Somali and prime minister yesterday.

When the shelling starts,we call It "music". We do our things and believe everybody will be gone when their time finishes.Dead is something normal here in mogadishu.that is why when we go to bakara market,we take our ID written our name and tribe so that when somebody die,it gonna be easy to recognize them.We were born in bullet and we will die in bullet.we have never seen peace and that our youth life generation.

Why attack bases in Hodan instead of the airport?

The airport is the lifeline of the government and AMISOM
