Puntland says:Mog no longer capital of Somalia

Postby SahanGalbeed » Thu Feb 10, 2011 3:58 pm

GAROWE (Sunatimes)- Somalia’s baffled Puntland semiautonomous says there is need for consultations of whether Mogadishu will continue to serve as the Somali capital, one of the latest foolproof statements against Somalia’s incompetent government.

Speaking to the reporters in Garowe town on Wednesday, Abdi Hasan Jimale, Puntland's minister of federal affairs, said Mogadishu used to be the capital of Somalia, adding that there is doubt whether it is currently the capital, a word he did not explain to the reporters who were present at the presser.

“ I have to make clear today that Mogadishu is no longer the capital of Somalia, it’s in doubt now” The minister said.

Analysts described the move as ‘ Wish’ Puntland is trying to get the capital of Somalia for it’s regions.

Mr. Jimale noted that the Somali people need to discuss where the capital of the country would be, saying that Puntland has banned the Somali constitutional commission from visiting its territory, and that drafting a new constitution for Somalia at the moment is illegal.

“ The last time a widely accepted constitution was drafted for the country was during the time of the late Muhammad Siad Bare, but nothing accurate is going on now” he said.

Puntland officials have recently been making series of anti-Somali government moves, the key one being severing of ties.

The horn of Africa nation has been without government since 1991 after warlords overthrown dictator Mohamed Siad Barre from power that plunged the country into durable chaos.

Puntland should secede from Somalia, it seems they're acting alone and are arbitrarily trying to speak for Somalia. Tell that desert shithole to either secede or take commands from Sh. Dalxiis, you can't have it both ways :P

so Puntland is a double speaking? in one way calling for reconciliation while pulling out of TFG, deporting displaced persons, while calling for all somalis to come to their city.

I agree with Granpakhalif, they should just Secede completely or come under TFG, because they aren't helping the situation in Somalia. It just sounds like another regional Warlord sabotaging the Somali government for his own political interets.

i support this notion the capital must be in putland. due to
-no alshabab or any radical group.
-no civil or intra clan wars.
-no AU troops.
-no warlords.
-relatively good infrastructures.

ther is no point of keeping Xamar a capital when not even the officials can hold a meeting ther !
