Nine heavily armed Somali pirates hijacked a United Arab Emirates-flagged oil product tanker, MT Jubba XX, early Saturday morning (0930Z) as she made her way from the UAE to the port of Berbera in the breakaway region of Somaliland.

Pirates seized the vessel and her 16 multinational crew while underway at position 13:48North-051:25East, approximately 220 nautical miles northwest of Socotra, Yemen.

Crew members are comprised of 1 Sri Lankan, 1 Sudanese, 1 Myanmar, 1 Kenyan, 4 Somalis, 3 Bangladeshi and 5 Indians.
