Somaliland and Puntland...

In short, Somaliland is a place that does not want to be part of Somalia, Puntland is also a place but it wants to stay as a part of Somalia but wants to have their own government and laws.

So, lately, I have been hearing reports that many puntlanders are turning away from Somalia and some even wants Puntland to be separated from Somalia.

One thing I don't get is, why can't Puntland and Somaliland merge if they want to be separated from Somalia, there's no point being separate because they have the exactly same aim and this is it what they are looking for. Basically, western countries will laugh in Somalia and its regions in its face if Puntland decides to ask for independence.

There must be something that prevents them merging, I am thinking it's tribalism.

There is more chance of somaliland getting recognized than to see Puntland and Somaliland merging together and we all know how slim the chance of Somaliland getting recognized is.

To be honest i was discussing this very Same subject with some hard core pro-independence somalilanders.
To My surprise, we all (( 5 mjs 2 dhullos and 4 isaaqs 1 mareexaan)) agreed that merging THE two northern regions is à benificial course of action for both citizens and to à minor degree for all somalis. Lets face it, 2 Somali nations is à better world for somalis then 10 djiboutis when we have Ethiopië as à nxt door neighbour...

Being frank As à majeerteen, i despise THE southerners when i admire THE northern tribes... Majeerteen need to loose THE hunger for political superiority and isaaq need to stop THE unnessary hatred, it seriously damages THE respect you guys deserve... THE only reason i would stay with Somalia is because i dont wana see 10 Somali UN members.... But à korean version of Somalia is indeed very entertaining... Harti isaaq gadabursi makes northern Somalia THE south korea factor easily.

Pland and Sland will never merge, they don't want to and neither do we. Puntland will remain with .Hopefully a strong federal system will put in place.
