Word on the Street: US & Al-Shabaab reached an understanding

Postby udun » Sun Sep 04, 2011 11:47 pm

Word on the Street: US & Al-Shabaab reached an understanding????

Timelines

1. On August 2, US State Department eased restrictions on any support provided to all areas under Al-Shabaab control.
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/world/ju ... 08-02.html

2. Senator Hillary Clinton issued an appeal to Al-Shabaab on August 04, 2011, and requested to allow "unfettered access to relief workers trying to aid thousands of people threatened by famine."

http://www.voanews.com/english/news/afr ... 05563.html

3. Al-Shabaab started withdrawing from Mogadishu on August 06, 2011.

4. Two NGOs that were acceptable to Al-Shabaab were approved by the US government to deliver food aid to all areas under Al-Shabaab. Keep in mind, there is no official acknowledgement from the US government. People are saying Qatar, Egypt, and another Arab country brokered the deal.

Now Somalis are saying Al-Shabaab will be brought in as part of next year's government. Of course, there are no official statements from the US government nor from Al-Shabaab, but since we all heard reports on USA and Taliban talking, no one should discount on any things stated between US and Al-Shabaab. Keep in mind, Somali talk far too much, and any news travels quick within the oral Somali society, I would not be surprised if there are any merits to this news-on-the street. On either case, we need a closure on this sensless conflict. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

These guys who just got back from Mogadishu were making as if a common understanding were reached between US and Shishkabaab. If the story is true, and it will help bring the conflict to a closure, it must be a good thing. I think the US is facing financial difficulties, and Al-Shabaab is also facing finance and interal power struggle issues so it may be a better time for the US and Shishkabaab to end it.

I rather enjoyed the spectacle of watching the duqsi boys wasted by unmanned drones. A shame to see it end. But for the sake of the country a diplomatic settlement is in all likelihood the bestest.

The trouble is though Precedent Obama does not have the good of the country at heart. These imperial US gangsters cannot be trusted. Oh well, "The truth is great and shall prevail / When none cares whether it prevail or not."

Who wrote that?

SSC consumed your mind Mr San Fransisco dweller

Seriously, is asking questions became conspiracy theories? You're failing every body Mr San Fransisco dweller  You should read back and see I stated there is no official US government aacknowledgement nor from Shishkabaab (aka Al-Shabaab), but the story is out there.

If the story is proven, what are you gonna say Mr San Fransisco dweller?

Btw, I am only being here year and half!
