The central regions should build a "new Mogadishu"

Postby James Dahl » Wed Sep 21, 2011 1:33 pm

The Jubba valley has Kismayo, Puntland has Bosaso, Somaliland has Berbera, but the central region lacks a big trade port.

Xarardheere's mixed clan nature can be an asset, instead of being a pirate town, the pirates should be kicked out and a new capital for the central regions should be built there, with a quarter for all central region people. Build a Mareexaan quarter, expand the Habar Gidir, Sheekhaal and Abgaal quarters, build Murusade, Dir and Duduble quarters and it could be a "New Mogadishu" in the central regions.

:?

What you mean by quarter?

By the way, its true. Central Somalia lacks trade port.

I wonder why coastal towns in Central Somalia are ignored?? :?

How about solving the problems of the existing mogadishu first
The Jubba valley has Kismayo, Puntland has Bosaso, Somaliland has Berbera, but the central region lacks a big trade port.
With an estimated pop of ~>10mil more than 4 major ports are not needed unless you subscribe to the mindset of a few Somalis (you included) that each sucregion 'needs' its own port.

Harardheere is not really a port, its really deep in-land. Even Hobyo is a hundred meters from the shore. The central regions don't really evemn have a culture of marine life.

On top of that, those regions are inhabited by Habar Gidir, Marehan, and Abgaal - none of those clans are fit to run a brothel let alone a port.

Berbera was built by fit people, Dir, and Bosaso & Kismayo were originally Harti ports - you need proper clan demographics to do anything meaningful in Somalia. Just giving a shovel to someone won't ensure they'll use it properly, you need to properly assess their capabilities, and their clan will tell that story.

Face palm Fail.

Dahl@ The ports in the central region historically have had small populations, secondly why would they, especially considering that the Hawiye tribe in the region ( they make up vast majority of galgaduud) have a strong presence in Mogadishu.

FACEPALM at "new Mogadishu" SMH, of all port cities he picked ancient Mogadishu.
