Somali militants claim attack on Kenyan warship

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — Somalia's Islamist militants claim they have destroyed a Kenyan warship as residents reported a gun battle at sea lasting several hours.
The al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab militants posted a statement on a website they often use on Sunday saying that they had destroyed the vessel near Madhawa Island, just off the coast of Somalia near the Kenyan border.
The militants' claims could not be immediately verified and a Kenyan defense spokesman said he had no information about the attack.
Residents in Somalia's coastal Kudha town say they heard gunfire and explosions at sea.
Ali Abdulahi says the gunfight early Sunday morning lasted more than two hours. At dawn residents said they saw three speedboats heading toward Kismayo.
Kenya sent troops into Somalia last month after a string of attacks on Kenyan soil blamed on Somalia's al-Shabab militant group.

civilians die like flies in somalia right now ... these mooryaans have to clean once for all

Alshabaab can only be defeated by Somalis not by foreign mercenaries the only people that will suffer the most are the innocent civilians the Alshabaab are armed,, the innocent civilians are not by Supporting Military intervention you want you're people to be killed

Back to the story, Kenyan navy ship would have sunk to the bottom of the ocean had it not been rescued by French navy ships. It was later towed to a port according to Somali and international news.
