This is a really sensitive issue, because if Somaliland were to have control of all of British Somaliland. It would mean having control of 30% of what is today known asPuntland along with its lucrative potential oil fields. Painfully, Somaliland would have no chance of recognition without having control over all of British Somaliland.

In 2007, Somaliland did successfully capture laascanood after a preemptive strike. Puntland is controlled by the Mj clan, who felt at the time that Laascanoo which is a dhulbaate city was not worth the lives of the people in defending it.

Somaliland is as always playing it smart. Very calculated and preemptive but Somaliland knows that it needs to take control of all British Somaliland. If not than recognition is impossible

Well Sool it all but lost to Somaliland, along with some of the Nogal block that has potential oil, but I don't see Maakhir getting controlled thru diplomatic or military means. When one thinks about it without any greed, both regions don't have to be a package. Split it up and call it a day.
