Is this kid serious? That's the position of your government and the consensus of the international community. You are talking about a minister, it doesn't even really matter what party is in power because the position has been set by AU, US, UN, and the rest of the international community. The man is just there to tell you the truth, he could have been a Liberal under Labour for all I care. The international consensus will not change.

Grasping at straws again..

So what.. he says HE is a unionist..

I recommend that you all wait and see the outcomes of this conference, it should be exciting .
I am not saying that we will be recognized, nope we are not even close yet, but what will be one of the outcomes is that we will have a special status in the conference
This was what was agreed by the british envoy that came to Hargiesa.
This will also clarify our current position diplomatically.
They will not address the issue of Somaliland recognition but they will open more channels for Somaliland to access .
They expect this unofficial UN trusteeship of Somalia to last for another 5 years or so and they hope to address this issue in the future.

before you say here goes another mirqaan iidoor..
just wait 11 days for the conference and see for yourself.

:D

Um, right. All you did is watch the little diaspora where they said Somaliland is a special case (obviously yh since they are the only faction to declare independence) which was repeatedly clarified in the video. Might I remind you of Britain's legacy and how careful it is not to ever publicly try to steer sub-Saharan African politics? The consensus in the international community from AU to US to UN to AL, etc are all one which is the territorial integrity of Somalia is sacrosanct. Britain even if they wished to elevate you is a second-rate power to do with heavy legacy baggage that forces it to bite its tongue EVEN IF they wished to elevate you.

You are sitting next to Galmudug and will be considered a mere faction of the Somalia quagmire.

I don't doubt low level bureaucrats who visited Hargesia told them they would be participating under a "special status". It's funny how childlike somaliland acts, thinking it's something worthwhile that mother Britain said it was "special"

The road map has been set 2 years ago,
there will be no recognition until something like 2017.
Till then there will be a semi-official recognition like taiwan.
Full access to international trade etc etc, but no seat at the UN.

The conference will not spend allot of time on this issue because there is a general consensus that the whole recognition issue will be postponed till after the
Somalia project is fully on the way. It will be briefly mentioned though, and Somalilands status will be different to Puntland, Galmudug etc.

just be patient and wait.

I do not need to provide any sources , you will see it with your own eyes.
