Somalia: Puntland President Receives Big Welcome in London

A Puntland Government delegation led by H.E. President Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud(Farole) arrived in London on Monday evening [20 Feb 2012] ahead of the opening of the International Conference on Somalia being hosted by the UK Government in London.
The Puntland delegation includes Interior Minister H.E. Abdullahi Ahmed Jama
(Ilkajir), Education Minister H.E. Abdi Farah Saeed (Juha), Information Minister H.E.
Ahmed Ali Askar, State Minister for International Cooperation H.E. Abdulkadir Abdi
Hashi, Puntland Election Commission Chairman H.E. Mohamed Hassan Barre, and officials from the Puntland Presidency.
Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) officials welcomed the Puntland Government delegation at Heathrow International Airport, where the delegation was ushered to the airport’s VIP Lounge.
The Puntland Government delegation met with members of the Somali Diaspora, who waved flags and cheered to welcome the Puntland President’s delegation.

The International Conference on Somalia is scheduled for 23 Feb 2012 and around 50
world governments are expected to attend. On 17 Feb 2012, the 2nd Somalia National
Consultative Constitutional Conference (Garowe II) concluded in the Puntland capital
of Garowe, where Somali leaders signed Garowe Principles II document regarding the
constitutional process in Somalia.
