BIG TIME OIL IN OFFSHORE SOMALIA BP/SHELL.

Postby grandpakhalif » Mon Feb 27, 2012 1:01 am

Yet it is the extent of oil deposits beneath the Indian Ocean that is most exciting Somali officials. One said the potential was comparable to that of Kuwait, which has more than 100bn barrels of proven oil reserves. If true, the deposits would eclipse Nigeria's reserves –37.2bn barrels – and make Somalia the seventh largest oil-rich nation.

...

British involvement in the future Somali oil industry would be a boon for the UK economy and comes at a time when the world is increasingly concerned about the actions of Iran, the second-biggest oil producer in Opec

...

Hashi, in charge of brokering deals for the region's oil reserves, also said Somalia was looking to BP as the partner they wanted to "help us explore and build our oil capacity". He added: "We need those with the necessary technical knowhow, we plan to talk to BP at the right time."

...

The state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation has tried to acquire an interest in Somalia's reserves. Senior officials from the Somali transitional government are adamant that the imminent extraction of oil in Puntland next month would kickstart a scramble from the multinationals.

...

Somali prime minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali said his government had little choice but to entice western companies to Somalia by offering a slice of the country's natural resources, which include oil, gas and large reserves of uranium. "The only way we can pay [western companies] is to pay them in kind, we can pay with natural resources at the fair market value."

I am sorry but you're not getting anything. You will still be living in your subsidized Toronto Community Housing apartment on Rexdale Blvd receiving Ontario Works. Nothing changes.

And that is off the coast of Kenya. The Kenyan government controls the country. Not the illiterate nomadic clans of the NFD.

The greatest question yet to be answered is whether I should style myself Lord Based, Shiek-ul-Saliid Based, or just go with Amir Based :?

What the hell are you talking about?

A nation's territory doesn't only include land. It includes waters as well. Each country can only claim so much into the ocean as their own jurisdiction. After that, you are in international waters and no country can lay claim to international waters. The thing you posted up is in Kenyan territory. Countries (depends on a case by case basis) usually have a few hundred KM of territory into the ocean.

Or did you think a nation's territory ends at land?

You are talking about my intelligence but you are the one who is dumb  You posted a pic of oil in Kenyan territorial waters.

lol @ there is no magic border in the ocean.

The picture Amir Grandpa posted is related to concessions in the Lamu basin, including Somalia's territorial waters that Kenya is trying to claim.

What he's talking about though, is this:
Yet it is the extent of oil deposits beneath the Indian Ocean that is most exciting Somali officials. One said the potential was comparable to that of Kuwait, which has more than 100bn barrels of proven oil reserves. There's apparently 100bn barrels off the coast of Kismayo, and Total seems to be backing Kenya's invasion of Jubaland to secure its illegal concessions in what is supposed to be Somalia's EEZ.

The invasion's obvious failure and the commitment of the International Community to resuscitate the Somali state and benefit from the obscene wealth that we're sitting on can only mean one thing: I'll be Lord Based by the end of the decade

Lol,I agree If any oil is found in somalia, the first group to benefit from must be the people who reside there then the somali people at large.however, offshore oil should be shared equally inshalah ,we have enough oil and gas to Make somalis oil lords.

Oil found in Somalia is federal, Those regional leaders have to affiliate to it, whether they like it or not.
