obsession with ethiopia

Postby metamorphosis » Mon Apr 09, 2012 9:31 am

Lately, i have been reading about ethiopia more and more. Some folks here have become so attached to ethiopia that their obsession is getting unhealthy. Lets ask ourselves what has ethiopia got to offer for somalia? They are completely useless to us and couple misguided kids here are suggesting that we follow ethiopia because they are the best example of what a nation should be. this worries me because to me, ethiopia has failed more than somalia. Sure somalia is In a state of chaos and that most of its people have no access to basic education or basic medication. somalia still managed to create and sustain a market that has been acclaimed as the most boomingb in east africa. We dont get aid from the un, we dont have a central economy that creates jobs, we dont make use of our resources(sugar, banana, and the newly discovered oil), most of our people depend on remittences from abroad, yet their economy is fairly healthy. Ethiopia on the other hand is a nation that takes pride In being the only country In africa that has not been colonized. so shouldnt they be scientifically and technologically be more advanced than the of us? In theory, they should be because they get billions In aid. Its people are highly illiterate due to lack of basic edication, they have no access to medication either. They arev so poor that most of them cant even afford condums, that along with being uneducated on the dangers of many lethal diseases, is the reason that most of them have contracted aids. the average ethiopian is poor and cant afford daily baths or daily meals, maybe the former is why a lot of them stink. Their economy is terrible. This is a fact measurable by their infrastructure which looks horrible. They dont have paved roads that connect the cities to urban areas. Is this the same people that we should aspiring to be? Is this the same people we should be emulating? supose this, switch, somalia with ethiopia. If ethiopia had a civil war and has been chaotic for 20+years, howbwould it look? if a civil war never broke out In somalia, how would it look?

50 years from now Ethiopia will be a developed nation while Somalia will still be stuck in its vicious circle of nothingness.

You are picking out the rich areas of the nation. evidenced by the presence of white people. Somaia has excuse to look shitty what s the excuse for ethiopians?
