Good point. But what has the west to benefit from all this? They say Meles had terminal brain cancer and he was ailing fro it for the past 3 yrs. Within this period he has changed alot of his policies. He buried the hatchet with alitihad/ictisam , created Liyu polis and opened trade opportunities in the Somali Kilil as we speak Jigjiga is transforming.
So there is alot of questions unanswered.

The west are famous to manipulate uprisings in their favour so I dont think they are that concern with it to that point they eliminate their guy.because he has reigned for long time and they cannot afford to support him if he is overwhelemed by a popular uprising.Just like Carafat was eliminated they still can get better poddles who are power hungry and money hungry and who would jump higher to the West tune.

I guess we have to agree to disagree. I think Meles was really sick and they cover it up until he was expected to get better but he never did and died. Like all dictators he had no one to replace him and here I think the west interfered and work up a solution amongest the tigrays. This how I see it but of course I could be wrong.Do you know that once Haile Selasie was of no use to them they discarded him in the most humiliating ways the dude died of starvation while under arrest. Mind you they always had groomed him and created him from nothing and helped him over and over but come 1974 enough was enough.
Meles had to go because he amassed so much wealth and had infiltrated every govt institution and not being popular with his people and the belief that he held power thanks to the West would not be beneficial for the west in the long run. Take the analogue of a race horse. When it is fit everyone loves it but when it gets old the only one that would love him is the butcher.
With the fall of dictators around Africa like the likes of Gadafi, Mubarak etc I used to ask my self times up for the midget in Ethiopia he served too long and any coup de tat was out of question because he had infiltrated the EDF while Meles enjoyed full support of the west. Conspiracy theory builds up and maybe the west saw that this dude served so long that regime change had to be done rather than expecting an uprising simmilar to the one that happened in North Africa. The West is finding it very difficult to come to terms with this challenge. So the question is was Meles eliminated? We all know one thing for sure is every dictator that is the Wests ally fall out after 2 decades. Mobuto et al being an example.
Something to ponder about just before Meles died the president of Ethiopia Girma wolde gogis(Oromo) died 3 months ago.Ethiopias patriach Abuna Paulos head of the powerful coptic church also dies. What a mystery.
