His election was a win for the Somali people everywhere; we witnessed the triumph of a socially-conscious and God-fearing man. Although bribery was inherit in the Presidential election and Somali politics in general, corruption and chaos succumbed to the notion of Nationalism and progression of the Somali people. I remember staying up late to watch the elections live, in the midst of it all I prayed Laytul-Qadr and asked Allah to guide this nation and its people, and to allow someone who can govern and bring the Somali peoples together. I must admit, I did not know much of President Hassan, I saw campaigns of his on Somali Tv's and the constant advertisement of him on a relatives facebook page. However, when the man was being sworn in, a palm against the book of Allah, his eyes visibly blank, I saw fear, fear of the oath he was taking. May Allah grant him success, and may Allah grant success and peace to the Somalis and Muslims everywhere, and humanity as a whole.
