Modest proposal for reorganizing Somalia's administration

Postby James Dahl » Mon Oct 22, 2012 5:19 pm

I think it's become clear that federalism a-la Puntland is much more complicated in the south. Puntland is just one clan, Harti, and even then there are issues with unity and overlapping claims, in the south it is a mess, everyone claims everything, I think there are 9 seperate claims on Kismayo alone. There are too many clans for federalism to work in the south it seems, though I was very optimistic and Galmudug seems to be doing well, though there are unresolved claims with their neighbors too.

I have taken it upon myself to draw up how I think the gobols and degmos should be reorganized:

How was your reasoning? By creating these gobols you think the claims will magically go away? I prefer the Jubbaland initiative where a inclusive admin takes charge and get the several clans onboard the same page.

Well that's a good example, both "Azania" and "Jubaland" both claim all of the Jubba Valley, Kismayo is claimed by every single state in the south except Galmudug and Ximan&Xeeb.

Here there is no such thing as claims, the south is under one state and the gobols are administrative only.

James, you think you know but you have no idea, you just proposed a declaration of war. no need to redivide the south while puntland and somaliland is untouched.

My male lineage is Danish, though I'm a mix of a number of northern European nationalities, English, Scottish, Irish, Swedish, etc

FYI there is no claim any longer from Azania since it merged with Jubbaland.
Your map is not any better then todays map with gobols and there is claims todays as you are aware of, you are not making resonable arguments as why there will be no claims. Besides you are making a point that the southern clans cannot make a federal state because of clan conflicts but your proposal is to bring in more clans and create big federal state. I'm sorry your proposal dont make sense.

Can we stay inline with what's realistically possible under the Somali Federal Constitution?

I think the sl gobol makes perfect sense.
however, I`d sugest a single gobol for Bay, Bakool and Shebelle Hoose, and the rest including galmudug as another.
Jubbaland has already been agreed.
