Sahnoun: SNA Brought Peace & Stablity Oct 1992

Postby AbdiWahab252 » Sun Dec 09, 2012 12:48 am

As I had repeatedly said that Somalia's best chance for peace was in late 1992 before the UN intervention. The warring groups had tired out, were spent, and the conflict had settled down. The civil war was pretty much over and the best chances for a reconciliation was during that time period:

Ambassador SAhnoun's speech starts @ 10.32 mark.

The UN/US intervention stoked the Somali war for another 20 years

As soon as the USC had routed the Govt forces and returned to Xamar, an orgy of murder, looting, rape against civilians began.
That was the end of Somalia as we knew it.

Somalis will never again put their heads on the chopping block again.
Thats what autonomy is all about...securing our futures. :D :som:

The best way for Somali the republic in 1991 was to adopt President siilaanyos power sharing formula between north and south usc and snm Caydiid for president the first 8 years. Abdiraxmaan tuur as Prime Minister. Mogadisho as the capital. The Parliamentary seat in Hargeyasa the government seat in Xamar.. The speaker of Parliament Cumar jees.

it didnt work because the USC broke apart, noone so that comming.
and Aideed was hard headed and would not listen to reason..
the SPM was more reasonable and were onboard.

the problem lay with aideed and alimahdis factions.

I don't know how the power sharing deal was drawn and what the terms of the agreement were but all I know is that at that time when the three signed the deal, SPM was the strongest group of all of them. Remember USC only existed on paper in mid 1989. SNM was completely defeated and if weren't the thousands of Jees troops changing sides, the remnants of SNM would have surrendered.
You have to remember that SPM-Jubooyinka drove Siyad Barre out of Jubooyinka by late 1989. They captured Balidogle in December of 1989. I can bring articles on that. In fact they captured 5 intact fighter jets. Then all the sudden, SPM got a big boost when the entire 26th division of Somali military changed sides and came to Bakool from W/Galbeed.

What happened next is what led to the destruction of an an entire state. The wild and uncontrolled USC militias unleashed on unsuspecting OG fighters in Afgooye and Ceelasha Biyaha. They were attacked from all sides. Jees made a big mistake and let these young fighters down by not preparing them for the unexpected. The closest supplies for these guys were to come from Baydhabo and the supply lines were cut off. As of today, there is a patch of land between Ceelasha Biyaha and Afgooye that is known asLafo Ogaadeen.

These animals attacked the same people who freed them. Doqoni Abaal maleh walee

Here is Jees himself talking about that; start at 1:30

He is blaming the Manifesto Group but the reality is the criminal Caydiid was supposed to be the leader of the group and therefore was responsible in their actions. The leader is responsible the actions of his people.

Guhaad,

Using your logic, Axmed Cumar Jees would be held liable for the Kenyan Aden Gabyow's actions ?

Aden Gabyow was no Kenyan he was the Somali Defence Minister for quite a bit, there are two types of Ogadeens: The Jeesuit Doqons and the Gabyowans and indeed the Gabyowans were an honourable force indeed. :wow:

after botched attempts at revising historical context through keydmedia, our hg ragtag with 3 presidency in a slum is left with searching the web for a suitable narrative. keep faith, there will never be a strong state to prosecute the wars of yesterday, and Xamar will never be the same with federalism.
