hassan sheekhs next plan: less ambassadors

Postby sahal80 » Mon Dec 10, 2012 3:06 pm

The somali president has formed a committe of 10 ex somali ambassadors from the old era. What they are meant to do is to provide a background information and evaluation regarding the most important countries for somalias interestes. The next plan is to have less ambassadors to avoad the economical expenses of these embassies.

These are supposedly the diplomatic missions of somalia. Look at South America. I believe that is French Guiana if my geography is correct. Is this true? Does Somalia have a presence there?

Looking at the map, 80% of the representation is useless. There is no Somalia representation in USA, Canada and UK, the three countries with the biggest Somali communities in the West.

Yes I know there are students there but I thought they were bigger in India, especially Hyderabad. I saw at least 100 in Hyderabad.

I think Somalia needs at least 25 country representation.

There is Somalia embassy in Doha, I saw it. Somali population in Qatar is not that big and they had a large embassy. The Gulf can share 1 embassy. If they want to renew their passport, mail it in. If you need to do something in person, take a plane to Dubai. Half an hour trip $50 one way. It's not a big deal. They don't need more than 1 in that region. Wasteful spending. And why is their a embassy in French Guiana :dead:

Pakistan is home to a much much Larger Somali Community which also donates Scholarships to Somali students every year plus it's home to Complete Somali Families. We need to have an Embassy in the Gulf states especially Qatar since they are heavy donors to Somalia plus you are forgetting Somalia does not even pay the salaries of its Ambassadors or Employees but rather the host countries do

The embassies are a mess. But seriously, the government needs to raise at least $30,000 a month to operate an embassy here in Washington DC:

Office Rent - $3,000
Ambassador Salary - $7,000
Consular Officer Salary - $4,000
Economic Affairs Attache - $4,000
Military Attache - $4,000
Secretary - $3,000
Utilities - $1,000
Contingencies - $4,000

I doubt that they can afford to pay for such an embassy. Ethiopia alone spends $100,000 each month lobbying for its issues @ the US Congress.

Are you telling me the government can't afford $400,000 per year to operate an embassy in the US?

I am sure they can.

The Somali ambassador to the UN should also be the Somali ambassador to the US to decrease costs.
