The subsequent arrival of cuban troops played a significant part in actually driving the somali army out Ethiopia.

And the somali commanders admitted that the cuban trainers and advisers were doing a good job for the militia

In other words,Russian supplies helped Ethiopia to hold firm and to drive out the somali army in March 1978,as did cuban troops.
