About 400 Somali refugees return home daily

Hundreds of Somali refugees living in Kenya's urban areas are heading home after the Kenyan government earlier this month ordered their repatriation or relocation to refugee camps, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported Monday (December 31st).

At least 400 Somalis head to Mogadishu from Nairobi airports daily, said Somali Ambassador to Kenya Mohamed Ali Nur.

Mohamed Bare Mahamud of Africa Crown World Travel estimated that 9,000 people left Kenya for Somalia over the past two weeks.

An unknown number of Somalis returning home used ground transportation. Some people also crossed over into Uganda or Tanzania, while those who hold foreign passports went to their second countries.

The Kenyan government has blamed refugees for recent insecurity in Nairobi. But the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees cautioned against stigmatising the population, saying negativity towards refugees and discontinuing services in urban areas will not alleviate the problem

hasan sheikh asked for it and the kenyan's are fullfilling the president's wishes, the only problem is the peace we have now might be short lived as we have seen it previously time and time again but nevertheless i hope peace remains for the sake of these refugees whom most of them are not happy to go back and go through the same qaxar they've experienced.

There are no jobs for the youth in Somalia you dont expect the returnees to sit idle in their parents home.
If there is no job creation programme for the youth. They will flock back to Kenya as they have skills that will make their ends meet.Cos Kenyan is a regional market where people from as far as Congo visit the country and buy merchandise from Somali businesses.
The Kikuyu community want to take over the business as they have availability of resources like Equity Bank which entitles them with low interest loans.Somalis taught kikuyus how to do business and Kikuyus want Somalis to leave as they cant compete with somali traders who have always traded on very low profit margins.
