Now Somalis are the laughing stock of the world.
Somalis getting raped and killed right left and center is always worse than a dictator protecting the Somali people and putting food in their mouths.
Unlike the incompetent lackey abdullahi yusuf, the grotesque Aidid along with the saboteurs snm.
Matter of fact there would be no diaspora with Barre was still in power.
A rooted dictatorship is a sure sign of coming chaos and anarchy. Opposition will naturally take place. The point is to prevent any form of tyrannical and authoritarian rule from the beginning, if not poverty, destruction, and war is inevitable. Cause and effect is at play here.
Let's not be simple minded about the matter and uselessly bring about the argument "Dictatorship is better than anarchy". We all quite frankly know that to be true, but anarchy is the bastard child of dictatorship.

Major General Mohamed Siad Barre ilahay qabriga haw nuuriyo.
Doqonki Ogadeen, its logic like this why your people are occupied today. if you believe that then the same can be said for Hitlet, Stalin, Saddam, Gadhafi, and all the other dictators.
In my honest opinion that man is heading for the deepest darkest hell with fircoon and all the other ugly killers. But thats just my opinion and god is great..

I rather die on my feet than live on my knees. Dictatorship is tyrannical, one man power rule, it is humiliation and utter defeat. if Some guy can order me to be shot to death or kidnapped without any fair trial or due justice than gtfo

Clan mentality and Predujices aside,Just look at how somalia was doing under barre adminsitration economically, militarily, diplomatically and overall as functioning state and compare to the current somali state of affairs and you will get the BIG picture.

Somalia was burned down and corrupted by dictatorship along before the "rebels" came. The Somali military killed its own people in the North, and also down South when the regime was going down.
I could easily take pictures of Somali kids during Colonial days or during the era of the first Democratically elected president that served his term with honor and dignity, and stepped down gracefully. Siyad Barre wasn't much of a help when it came to preventing a civil war, in fact his dictatorship was a key factor.
Well said, our ppl always talk the effects instead of the causes and will defend a dictator, a warlord because of qabiil!

I guess insulting me on a personal level is the only argument the whore and fags has instead of arguments but then again this thread is embariassing for them
This is the "wonderful" government existing before siyad barre in the 60s known for, corruption, poverty, tribalism,
As Somalia was approaching independence in 1960, the pursuit of clan and personal agendas was already beginning to eclipse plans to build robust institutions that might sustain the young nation.
By independence, Machiavellian individuals exploiting the newly-founded state’s naivety and lack of experience in government, as well as the gullibility and groupthink mentality of clan-loyalists, had set the groundwork for the culture of institutionalised looting of following decades.

However, by the late 1960s, the government was widely considered corrupt and inefficient

He started an ugly cycle of distrust and destroyed a new democracy the moment he turned into an obnoxious dictator.
Don't use the misfortune of poor Somali kids as PR to a dead dictator.
A. you insult our dear former president Siyaad Barre(aun) and blame him for what is happening 22 years after he was overthrown by rebels who took over the country, divided and exploited the Somali people and continue to do so to this day. interesting.
B. you over glorify the government before Siyaad Barre(aun) and imply that they were totally free from corruption and that it was Siyaad Barre(aun) who started "an ugly cycle of distrust" completely ignoring the corruption and assassination of the president of that very government.
the mainstream Somali view is similar to that of the OP, even those who are somewhat tribalist cannot deny the facts, and it takes someone truly sick and demented to not only insult Siyaad Barre(aun) but also accuse him of crimes his foes committed.
