President to appoint Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

The federal government of Somalia is planning to hold a meeting to appoint the head of the supreme court. This was announced by the president of the federal republic of Somalia Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on 11th February 2013.

This will be held on 1st of April to 5th of April 2013 in Mogadishu.

The agendas that will be addressed include:

Addressing obstacles the Supreme Court faces.

The reformation and development of high court institutions, and restoring back law abiding citizenship in the regions under the federal government.

Absolute final decisions and ruling from the Supreme Court institution.

Ensuring the courts ruled according to the new constitution.

The meeting will be attended by law makers, the Somali elite, parliamentarian committee, justice department in the country, the military court, justice ministry, the police department, the prison and rehabilitation army and learning institutions such universities. Human right groups and women right group will also attend the function.

It is expected that the meeting will yield implementation of constitutional chapters that will be inherited years to come and will pave the way for justice and maintenance of law and order in the country.
