UAE to open embassy in Xamar before end of 2013

MOGADISHU (RBC) The government of United Arab Emirates has announced that it will resume its diplomatic relation with the horn of African country of Somalia after more than two decades of civil war that collapsed the former regime in 1991.

After receiving the new president of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who is paying an official working visit to the UAE, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said that Somalia will witness peace, stability and national unity for further development and progress to the people of Somalia, UAE news agency reported on Saturday.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan remarked UAE’s desire to reopen its embassy in the Somalia capital, Mogadishu before the end of this year.

The UAE had been one of the biggest humanitarian aid providers to Somalia since the collapse of Somalia central government.

The Somalia President Hassan Shaikh Mahmoud, on his side praised the humanitarian efforts made by the UAE and its firm stand by the people of Somalia.

Currently several Arab and African diplomats from various countries are operating in Mogadishu as the news Somalia government has repeatedly called for other world states to come and open embassies in Mogadishu.

All the gulf countries are not planning to miss out on 'Mogadishu' or investing in it, just look at the name, it's the perfect middle eastern/Persian style fantasia.
