well read this new article from a month ago which describes mr Baasto as a top government official.

Kismayu (sh.M.Network) reports from Kismayu, the port city of the lower Juba region confirm that governmen troops stopped charcoal that was to be exported from the port.
The cities administration allowed the coal export but the federal troops seized the thousands of sacks as it arrived at the port. Charcoal export was banned by the government as it caused large destruction of forest in the region.
Colonel Iftin Hassan Basto who is one of the government top officials in the region talking to Shabelle radio said that they have seized thousands of sacks containing charcoal that was to be exported at the port.
Colonel Iftin added that his troops stopped the coal business because of destruction of forests in the region and the large sum of money generated from the business may also be involved in anti government projects.
The colonel reiterated that his troops were implementing government policies and taking order from the government only.
This comes as the president of the federal republic of Somali banned charcoal export in the country and termed the business as destruction of the countries nature.
This shows us the government is 100% behind the kismayo conflict.

Shocking. Personally, I was wondering as to what evidence they had when the Fed govt was accused of being involved in the recent Kismayo fighting. The Kismayo admins also said, they had evidence, hopefully they will realise them.

Obviously the government was involved. They are vehemently opposed to the formation of Jubaland. Hassan Sheekh can't exactly order 5000 SNA soldiers from Lower Shabeelle to march on banging war drums. The government has to subtly make do with whatever loyal factions they have in the region. That was a tiny clan militia that caused uproar to test the waters. Larger pro-gov clans were just watching. Gaaljecel, Shiikhaal, Biimaal etc etc let alone the heavily armed Marehan and Gedo.

Never heard of iftiin before his presidential stuff but, in that way he was part of SNA and that doesn't make him an official, SNA in there are not loyal to the govt they just carry the same name and their leader is called saxardiid. They have done cisyaan againist the administration about their wages... So they are abit different.
What happened is that the minister fiqi was forming a new official SNA and the already exisiting SNA includes different clans so picked the ones who were ready to join the official SNA about 1000 forces. Iftiin was going to meet the minister as a colonel and a military man about the formation of the new official SNA, at the ministers hotel he got attacked by RK so what has this to do with being involved in the fitna the govt was just doing its business.

The govts policy towards kismayo has failed, the minister has left the town for fear or bc he wasn't able to enter it again, now things are at zero. I know what is wrong with them, its because they don't want to clash with kenya. I mean what is the point of destroying ahmed madoobe and appointing him again!

turtle wants to bring the dirty culture in xamar to kismayo but the ppl of kismayo will never let his kind have any influence in kismayo.

There was never any doubt Hassan Sheikh et al was responsible for the attempted destabilisation of Kismayo.
Its all the more remarkable when you consider Xamar is a hotbed of Shabaab activity, and yet he wants to plunge peaceful Shabaab free regions into turmoil.
This president has lost all legitimacy and credibility.
Nothing positive will come from his presidency.

Sahal, I suppose Kenya will always have some sort of influence in the region as long as their AMISOM troops are there but their influence can be limited with a government appointed admin composed of different groups. Ras Kamboni want's a sort of Puntland, independent from Somalia in everything but name that has what you might as well term "bilateral relations" with Kenya. A country within a country in Somalia that's influenced by Kenya for some time to come. Over the FG dead body.

This is what happens when pagan mooryaans run a country, though we can't say we are surprised. I hope the next move is the withdrawal of the Kenyans.
