Michael Mariamo was a staunch anti unionists you got that right , but Cigaal himself though not completely against idea , he at the time
repeated more than once for the union to be given time till the two nations get to know each other better . and as a newly elected president
he more than anything wanted to proof himself in north before he heads to south .

Who rushed it then? I know the north were rushing and even the south wanted things to be worked out fairly. Our people need negotiation skills and how to manipulate things. Wa iska maskiin. They gave it all away and later blamed the south. It's like here guys take all these fruits and when they ate it, they expected them to puke out???

Wixi tagay wu tagay, now you negotiate better and take the capital north. The south had it for 50 years, its not any body's fault they wasted 20 years. The north should host the capital for 50 years at least now.

hargaysaay,

I thought it was Michael Mariano who was opposed to the union along with the SPU but Egal rushed to Xamar even before Aden Adde. The Hawiye were surprised that day. Again few are misleading us and their way is throw it all or keep us all in the dark. Ma yaqanaan compromise and negotiation.

That's why I suggest moving the Somali capital from Xamar to the north like Erigavo. All you need to do is bribe Farole and get few Dir in the south to endorse it.
Caution and a well organized movement towards union was marianos platform, cigaal attacked him successfully by fuelling somaliweynist sentiments and pushing for union now, as soon as possible.
When cigaal defeated mariano in the polls and became head of government, the weight of responsibility dawned on him and he started having second thoughts.
but it was too late, the masses where already frothing at the mouth unionists and they wanted union now, as soon as possible no delays.
the dhulbahante garaad also shared the same position, but it was too late.

Ironically today we have the diametry opposite situation,
The masses are frothing at the mouth secessionists, apart from the elite politicians that have no morals or political position and would leave for xamar if it was profitable and there was no risk, and a small minority of idealists like hargaysay, and hawdian here.
compromise is difficult in this situation.

i belong to a different group, realist unionists.

We the people of North rushed , you know Northerners are a bit more emotional than their brothers in South .1960 was an exceptional year for all Africa
As its the year majority of colonies retained their independence , their was a sense of happiness and enthusiasm for the future , our people did not give a damn
about Statehood at the time all they wanted to see was a united people under one flag , land and leader . while the South having gone through 10 years of
semi independence learned the dirty ways of politicking and manipulation from the Italians , all of which they later used against us .

LOL@ Gurey - Realist Unionist . I like the sound of that .

Gurey + Hargaysaay,

I appreciate your input which is honest and I like open and honest brothers. We can only diagnose problems and fix them when we admit them openly not hide and pretend everything is rosy.

Gurey can you explain real unionist for us and how you differ from me and hargaysaay. I know for a fact me and hargaysaay have different ideologies but we are equally opposed to secession which we see as a disaster for our people by withdrawing from all societies in the region.

In this case I am happy to endorse your positions gentlemen because as brothers we can walk separately in west, east and south and look for opportunities and way forward for our people and when one finds something let us meet again under this qudhaac tree and evaluate the findings. But I can't tolerate sitting under this qudhaac and expecting food will arrive from Heaven in a silver plate called ixtiraaf.

This is where I differ from the brothers and they have hard time comprehending me. The first thing to all of us understanding one another is putting down this defensive wall. This is the wall that I attack not the Isaaq people.

we differ in the fact that i have no problem with independence of somaliland.
I also do not find any economic obstacles to this independence, i find it quite doable really and it can be made a success.

On the other hand i am a somaliweynist of the old fold, i want all somalis under one umbrella.
I want union of all somali territories and willing to start with the re-union of the 2 somalias north and south,

Provided the interests of my clan are secured.
This can be done by preventing the mistakes of 1960 from being repeated,
for that it means far greater autonomy than our people in 1960 expected or wanted.

Puntlands federalism is not enough,

Gurey, these two guys are two of the most deluded individuals on this forum. I have analysed the daily nonsense they post on this forum and at times finding myself shaking my head with hands on my head. Hargaysa for example supports xamar and the poor man is so confused he doesn't know who his enemies are or were he belongs to. Amongst the Isaaq's he will always be seen as a traitor and wont rest easy amongst them and the Hawiye see him and his kind as useful tools to be used against Somaliland. He does not even have the courage to correct the ''Dir'' nonsense and is prepared to go along with it.
This Hawadian troll is just that atroll with too too much time. He cares are has zero interest about Somaliland or its wellbeing. His only interest is playing to the none somaliland audience. Bal has he ever offered solutions except to say go to Xamar with his silly wet dreams. You think Hawiye are stupid enough to but the Capital in Farooles back yard and have to go through Puntland to get to it. lool. Also he claims to be Ethiopian, wtf. He says he was part of the Liyu Police who attack isaaq civilians in the hawd. This animal should be short for those action alone not debated with like normal person.

Somalis should just go with political framework that suits them best; City-states independent politically and economically but sharing one foreign policy. It's either that or a monarchy that rules all clans with an iron fist (much more efficient).

Skywalker you gotta understand something , we are as off now more than 20 years into this Ictiraaf nonsense people are getting tired of it , alternative solutions
are being discussed in the coffee shops of Hargeisa and Burco so this notion of Isaaqs seeing my likes as enemies is unlikely in fact at the rate
things are in motion now secession seekers might be viewed as useless traitors .

About the Dir thing , well the reason I dont take it serious is Dir is Dir and Isaaq is Isaaq . two separate prestigious tribes with rich history . everyone knows
That its not something oblique that I have to chest beat my Iidoorism , and frankly if we approach this level headed , 99% of Isaaq are under somaliland
the view minority in Mogadisho cant be on the same bar as the others , Common sense . the day your lot see the light and call it a day and
join us than see whether you are called Dir or Isaaq .

I am not that dumb to think all hawiyes appreciate our stance as a unionist northerners( specifically Isaaqs ) some see us as brothers in principle
and some consider us as you pointed out a useful item that can be used against the majority in north and they will perceive us that way until
you come back to your senses and realize you are part of Somalia , Now how that union is gonna be formed and its prerequisite is debatable .

Guys this Hawadian is confused beyond sanity. Infact his not Isaaq but a sheegato. To assume anything his says is the general Isaaq opinion is just day dreaming.
