Deadliest tropical cyclones in Somalia history hits Puntland

Postby MJ360 » Tue Nov 12, 2013 5:17 pm

The cyclone whipped up waves of four to five metres high, entire coastal villages, homes, buildings, and boats washed away. Torrential rains cut off roads and destroys major road bridge. The storm continues to wreak extraordinary damage across Puntland. Many are dead, many more are missing. Live stocks lost to the storm too many.

President Farole said the rescue and relief efforts may rely on helicopters; a state of emergency declared.

God help the people who are injured, missing or have been made destitute. AUN to the dead. Is there a charity relief effort - if so please post the Dahabshiil no.

Inna lilaahi wa inaa ilaahay raajicuun, my deepest condolence to the victims of the Tropical Cyclone in Puntland.
It's time for Puntlanders to stand united and strong.

Helping relief efforts should be the duty of every Puntlander iyo True Somali.

The focus of Puntlanders Government and Citizens, as well as the Federal Government is now focused on the reality on the ground in Puntland.
The Diaspora are in organizing mood at this very moment.

Puntland President

Federal Government

Minister of Interior

Puntland government with relief aid attempted to reach effected area with trucks loaded with Aid, but are unable to reach the people due to huge floods.

The situation has gone beyond the capabilities of the State. Aircraft is needed, to reach affected areas.

50, to 60.000 people live in the effected areas with 5,000 in urgent need of aid.

There is no point of aid if it can not be delivered to the people in due time.

The situation has really turned into a race against time. :|

The roads have been washed away. Waterborne diseases will soon spread like wildfire.

"I have buried... 10 members of my family, the icy storm and rain killed more than hundred people here," elder Hussein Abdullahi, 57, told Reuters from Eyl. When calamity is visiting others, you remember to help. So when disaster visits you, others will remember to help you.....

No independent verification. None of my foreign friends on the ground are confirming the number of fatalities being claimed by the Faroole regime. 100+ ku laha, while less than 5,000 died in the epicenter in the Philippines :eat:

The Minister of Interior focked up. He is a fool for pandering to propaganda.
