Hassan Sheikh Mohamud ruthless individual with hidden agenda

The constitution - in that document... Organizing the executive branch of the state consisting of a president and a prime minister was a deliberate attempt to avoid power becoming concentrated in the hands of one individual given the country’s unhappy history of dictatorship and mistrust between communities following a debilitating civil strife.
But the system intended to introduce checks and balances failed to do just that. It is a system that is not fit for purpose. Putting the current prime minister’s performance at the heart of the current controversy is a red herring – replacing him with another handpicked by the president will not solve the problem.
This is a wake-up call for parliament, to take stock of the situation so far and come up with bold move. It is time to grasp the nettle and tackle the contradiction at the heart of the constitution. It beggars belief that the system gives the PM the bulk of the executive power but then gives the president exclusive authority to nominate such a premier without consultation or consideration. That is the elephant in the room.
Those who designed the system could be forgiven for being too trusting of human nature. It was never envisaged that a ruthless individual with hidden agenda could emerge and select the PM he wants to usurp the power of the executive lock, stock and barrel.

Stop whining. Just cuz a guy from your clan was not selected doesn't mean H. Sheikh is not doing his job. AY accomplished nothing other than bringing in habashas to serve as his protectors. A somali saying goes "a sheep does not see its tail".

There's no point tiptoeing around such an obvious clan issue we face. Many of you Daroods who are anti-HSM were pro-MSB who was not only ruthless but he didn't come with no hidden agenda. Hawiye iyo Isaaq iyo wixii danta Darood ka horyimaada maraqooda hala cabo aa islaheedeen even till the point MSB joined a clan militia consisting of the worst possible Somalis seen in history, though i am yet to see a recognized Somali President who ended his tenure in the same ugly way. Even Abdullahi Yusuf just threw in the towel and went home peacefully. Ofcourse Hawiyes are in the bad too but it's becoming more clearer that any recent Hawiye sentiment is only reactionary to what originally prevailed. When the women of the Hawiye were singing for Farmaajo in the hopes of Somali unity, our fellow Darood citizens and leaders, especially that desert in the northeast, have never herald the same positivity for our leaders. Faroole till this day has not even visited the capital to see the President of his country.
This is why i like the presence of forumers such as original dervish, waa iska typical example of the aforementioned. Beriguu iska daayo hadalkaan HAG hala arko...ofcourse there are many increasingly progressive Daroods who speak of the HSM government as their legitimate govt, albeit drops in the ocean.

Somalia with a weak central/federal government will forever be in a political limbo. Extreme regional autonomy in Somalia is a byword for clan autonomy and that defeats the whole purpose of governance. Hassan Sheikhs political ruthlessness is needed, it's a requirement, a pre-requisite to the establishment of effective government and law and order
Come up with an effective political system for the country or spare us your hypocrisy. The only agenda on Hassan Sheikhs mind is establish government in his tenure.

@Jamal9
Blame the extremists who threaten Ethiopia from within Somalia not Abdullahi Yusuf.
@Marques
When did the singing internally displace persons become just Hawiye, those who to date face rape, lack of clean water and are still without shelter, etc. a more pressing local issue then national matter like unity. Puntland I think got it right when they took their local issue by the horn then depend on failed politicians.
@GeoSeven
When Hassan Sheikh was elected in September 2012 there was a great deal of optimism that the new leader will deliver. Since then the talks with Somaliland failed, Puntland break all relations, Somali Central Bank riddle with scandal, the Hinterland (L/M Shabelle a blaze, the government has lost all sense of direction and seems to be scapegoating the PM office. A year later I say the optimism has been lost don't you agree?
A effective political system is already in place only problem happen to be a dictator unwilling to nurture it, mainly through political means only by creating consensus and behaving less belligerent.
