PM: Give me 10 days to form 'cabinet of high quality'

Postby hydrogen » Mon Jan 13, 2014 8:14 am

Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali’s Federal parliament has fully endorsed a request by Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheik Ahmed to give him ten more days to complete his new cabinet.
In his opening speech, the Speaker of the Somali parliament Mohamed Sheik Osman "Jawaari" read to the meeting a request letter from the Prime Minister who demanded for a period of ten days to be able to form what he described in his letter as a ‘cabinet of high quality’ .

There have been very intense debates during Saturday’s Parliamentary Meeting, as some lawmakers were condemning the government’s top leaders of being responsible for the delay of the cabinet disclosure, whilst some others hugely supported the idea that the formation of an active cabinet might have needed more time and prolonged consultations.

The lawmakers then started to vote for the Prime Minister’s request which was finally approved by 142 PMs, out of 145 parliamentarians who attended Saturday’s meeting according to the speaker who announced the result of the vote. Only three members voted against.

“The 3rd session of the federal parliament will close on 22nd of January” the speaker told at the end of Saturday’s meeting adding that the Muslim weekend days ‘Thursday and Friday’ are not included into the ten-day period given to the Prime minister to bring his cabinet before parliament.
