Somalia's political system needs major fixing

Postby AbdiJohnson » Fri Jan 17, 2014 4:37 pm

Somalia needs to have one political system, not a fusion of many. Either have a federal parlimentary democracy like that of Canada (minus the constitutional monarchy of course) or a federal presidential republic like the United States. If they pick Canada's model, the Prime Minister would be head of the government, whereas the Governor General (but for Somalia, the President) would be a largely ceremonial position would be the head of the military, sign bills to become into law, officially welcome foreign dignitaries, etc. The President would be non partisan and not usually elected but appointed on fixed 10 year terms by the PM. It is symbolic. The Prime Minister would be the "real leader" and pushes his own agenda, where he is given the mandate by the people who voted for him. If they choose the US system, the President would take all responsibilities already mentioned and has a sidekick, the VP that he chooses to do VP roles until the end of his term. The two ceremonial positions mentioned would not be fired or whatever for obvious reasons.

What ever the case, the one who was voted has the power. Not the appointed ones

Whichever they choose, they must closely model it from either country since they want to adopt federalism. They have no choice

Somalia is not going anywhere if they don't fix this main issue.

Lastly, have some damn political parties. Everyone is an independent in Somalia. That crap doesn't work. People must be loyal to their parties and leaders. We shouldnt be seeing the same ministers or officials being in the cabinets of different PMs. If you as an MP or minister lost the party elections, you are all in opposition. If you were voted in as a Camel MP but your party lost, you don't become a Goat MP the morning after election night. This is just as important as my first point

I am,

I would like the pm post to stay to serve us properly, president can't do all this and his vice-president will not consider it to be his job if anything goes wrong

The system I would like us to have is to give more athourities to the president such as appointing and removing his pm, it doesn't make the pm the head of govt but rather the president of the council of ministers/rayis maglis al wozara, this means he is a proper minister. President serves both as head of state and govt

This system is well-known in the arab world countries and in italy.

I think somalia had this system in the 60s, maybe they adopted it from italy.

AbdiYahuud,

I agree but Somalia's political system its in confusion not because of the constitution but because of the dumb Somalis not following the constitution if they did no problem would had occurred.

Thats stupid and I never saw any country where a President can remove a Prime Minister. Its total illogical.

I'll tell you what the future will be.

Your adeer will get used & abused....then thrown under the Xamar-Afgoye bus.
There will be much gnashing of teeth and some of your crew will be put on suicide watch.
You lot will denounce Hassan Sheikh and his Govt...claiming Somalia is doomed.

After a few weeks it will be announced that the new PM will be from Abudwaaq.
You will then pledge undying loyalty to Hassan Sheikh...claiming he is the best president ever.

Suckers to a man. :snoop:

I agree. There are so many things wrong with the way somali politics is structured that one wouldnt know where to start. Thanks to a group of useless professional ku sheeg people. The problem with somali people is that everyone thinks he is a politician. For example what sort of political experience did culusow have before he was told to fix a very fragmented country? There is simply nothing that is not wrong with Somalia and you would place it under a former school teacher and expect a positive result? :mindblown: Make him the minster of education or something where his talents and experience will be put to use. Somalia is doomed as long as any idiot thinks he can be a siyasi.

AbdiJohnson you are right about the fixing part. Somalia needs a major overhaul which means ditching this farce of a word called Western democracy that brought nothing but division in our tribal country (not to mention has also brought nothing but gains for the rich in their countries while the poor are getting poorer) and start following something close to the Chinese way of democracy.

China today has its own meaning of democracy called 1 party system where once every decade their elites come together to chose a new leader with a almost free capitalism for their people who get protected from the cadan devil. Look at their biggest fortune 500 companies if it isn't owned by the government it is by one of its citizen.

Now instead of making it a decade we could reduced it to 4 and instead of elites picking themselves the 4 major clans and the .5 in a election put forward their sub-clan MPs to represent them in parliament. From there the MPs of each of the 4 major clans and the .5 w candidate wait for a turn a rotating 4.5 president and when their time comes put forward their candidate which again is rotated around the sub-clans so no one is dissatisfied. From there we have our MPs and each Major clans and .5 get to sit on the president seat and we can do that again form the cabinet. What do you think people MAD 8-) :geek: :ugeek:
