I know this piece has some of your points but this year has a reconciliatory policy and that why the reason of this new cabinet being there though this analyst doesn't see fundamental changes so I do for the central philosophy of the regime but the regime has now less problems; jubba file was resolved and ahmed madobe is in mogadishu right now...this file was once a problem between the regime and faroole though the regime was able to reconcil with ahmed madoobe through ethiopia...now you got these faroole apponents like abdiwali and adde muse visiting mogadishu...this has changed the formal relationship between the regime and puntland like I wrote it in the eve of the election day.
Gaas has different personality than faroole wich will impact on the political life...it doesn't mean that he is too different than him apart from that he has a political program, likes to orgonize the things, involve more in it, meets with all the politicians, creates political lobby of federalists and I heard that he called guys like badiyow to visit puntland to debate on the future of the somali politics...he is smarter than faroole who isolated himself from the political life indirectly due to his destructive ways wich has made puntland away from what is going on in the cabinet and the regional policies.
Having formal relationship with puntland benefits the regime
One of these xamar-based websites has called gaas "dhorwaaga aamusan as faroole was dhorwaaga ciyaayo!"
Back to that piece.
"• The New Year began with a new Prime Minister, Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed, and a newish cabinet – but no new brooms. It is like reshuffling for there are no new players in cabinet. Many of the ministers were from previous cabinets and this will not alter the fundamental cleavages in Somali political life. The government will remain in direct control of very little of the country, with the main politicians spending most of the year jostling for position in the capital rather than working for the Somali people."
