Somali cabinet endorses new Tax system for the country

Postby XimanJaale » Sat Mar 08, 2014 6:48 pm

Cabinet today discussed and endorsed a new tax system for Somalia. The Minister of Finance Hussein Abdi Halane presented plans for the new tax system and tariff levels to Cabinet, these plans will now move forward to parliament for approval.
The comprehensive new tax system comprises of both direct and indirect taxes on individuals and businesses. The plans detail tariff levels for income tax, property tax, corporate taxes and taxes on goods and services.

Addressing Cabinet His Excellency Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed, said:

“The Government of Somalia is committed to the continuing reform of our financial institutions and tax systems to increase the income of the state. The Minister of Finance has proposed a new tax system to ensure individuals and businesses are contributing their fair share to society and the rebuilding of our country.

“It is crucial that the government can raise its own revenue to be able to continue to improve security and roll out improved social services across Somalia. Up until now the state’s revenue has relied almost solely on customs collection from Mogadishu airport and port, we must broaden and in many cases introduce new taxes on sectors of our economy.

“The target of the next year is to raise enough revenue to vastly improve the capacity of the government to deliver for its own people and eventually become self-sufficient.”

Lol @ new tax system. They steal the aid money to begin with and want more money to steal. What has the government done for their citizens? The only development and social services are being delivered by Turks. Has the govt built a road by themself?

These idiots are so arrogant. Have they paid the soldiers? I hope no one pays any ridiculous tax. Their test was the aid money and how they will use it and we have seen they failed.

Nothing has been delivered by the govt. Why should the common person pay tax?

They are all clowns.

If Abdiwahab was the PM or Finance Minister, I would be raising $3 million in taxes per day 8-) or approximately $90 million per month. All gunmen would be gainfully employed and awarded for bonuses for fighting AS and enemies of regime. Every gunman, soldier, and militiaman from Ras Kiamboni to Zeilac would be know my name as Abdi Dollar courtesy of the $200 per month wired to them as long as they are fighting to secure the country from enemies of the state.

You are clueless scumbag. Somalia doesn't even get 80% of all the donor pledges from the international community. So how can it even steal something? Somalia lives on from the Mogadishu air and sea port. And Yes Somali government has paid their soldiers. Do you think a skinny Somali will fight without getting paid? You delusional liberal cunt.

The funny thing is that a few ispaaros in Xamar, and few other places could make that money easily. But we are so ineffective that this government litterally drools for a few million a month from dekada xamar.

The warlords were more effective organizations than these rascals. We need a real warlord to take over this government

Do you think moryaanism is something to boost about? Sometimes I think Somalis don't deserve normality and good governance. Continue bad mouthing the government, it will never succeed without it's people support. Do you really think a strong government will just magically pop out in a country riddled with 2 decades of chaos?
