Former Defense Minister and a powerful local leader Barre Adan Shire (Barre Hiiraale) says “ I am a peace man” but will no means lay down his arms to outsiders and ONLF remnants from Kilin 5 and Garissa illegally endorsed by Kenya defense forces KDF in the region.
Yesterday as a result of mediation efforts by some elders Col. Barre Hiiraale reaffirmed to the elders that he is well committed to the Addisababa peace process brokered by the Federal Government of Somalia and he will no means convey him from the peaceful path.
Former Defence Minister Barre Adan Shire who is believed to have widespread local and regional support calls the prime minister’s visit to Kismayo as one sided. He says he is not ready to disarm the sector 2 of the National Armay of Somalia which and other officials lead unless a free and fair routine of the process abided and reconciliation process kicks off.
Spokesperson for Barre Hiiraale Dr Hassan Kassim in Goob Weyn area about 12 Kms to Kismayo told the local media that Barre Hiirale vowed in front of elders that he is devoted to the peace, denying the propaganda spread by the so called Raaskambooni self styled administration and small group of people from the office of the prime minister.
“Among the issues we discussed with the elders, we all agreed not o hand over our arms to a militia, Alqaida, and ONLF sympathizers in Kismaayo”.
Dr Hassan Kassim added that it has never happened in Somalia or anywhere else that a national army surrenders its weapons to a bandit and merciless group.
Speaking on the relations between national army forces outside of Kismayo whose number is believed to be more 2, 000 well armed troops Dr Kassim said “ We have enjoyed good relations with our government in Mogadishu except a single person who is proxy for Raaskambooni clan and ONLF militias which is the prime minister”.
Col. Barre Hiiraale believes that it is no way a peace process starts with one side order to lay down its arms while the other clan and ONLF troops are in full possession of armament.
Somalia’s Prime Minister Abdiweli Shiekh Ahmed Mohamed failed to engage in a fair and peace process but instead refueled deadly battle in the region.
Moreover in Kismayo today several assailants whose faces, uniforms and transport were recognized as Raaskambooni clan and ONLF militias gunned down a prominent clan elder Amir Abdirahman Abdi Dhuh from the powerful Shiiqaal clan in the Shaqalaha road in Kismayo. Locals say the situation is tense.
