@Sophisicate, what do you mean more forward thinking, if you were wouldn't you utilize a port ? Every city has a university, if you haven't noticed Puntland state is the top uni in Somali lands. Why are you so hostile ? I'm not making fun of your clan, actually this thread is more so for others.

(1) Zeylac was abandoned as a port shortly after the inception of the Djiboutian-Abyssinian Railway in the late 1880s, which was built by the French.
(2) Berbera port gained via financial assistance amounting to nearly 100 Million from the Former Soviet Union in the 1960s, and subsequently in the 80s by the Americans.
(3) Bossaso received financial assistance from the Italians to build their port in the mid-80s to placate the people.
(4) Mogadishu received World Bank funds in the 70s to construct its port.
It appears nothing these fellows have has been done on their own.
