My prediction on americas next policy towards somalia was closer to the thruth!

Didn't I reveal that america is adopting a new policy towards somalia that's anti-federalism? Well, I knew that the US was still in its consultations so no one was able to tell wich opinion they will exactly go for it but its much closer to centralism than federalism: a national govt

The official said in a language that shows not being encoureging the federalism: somalis have to choice to stay as a disprate clans or a united nation! That means we are not yet a united nation!

I will check my old threads to show you my prediction and come back to this thread!
She challenged Somalis to eschew generations-old clan rivalries and focus on building a united national government.

“None of us can make that choice for Somalis,” Sherman told the U.S. Institute for Peace in Washington. “But Somalis should know, if they choose to continue to come together, they will have enthusiastic and substantial international support.”

WASHINGTON — For the first time in more than 20 years, the U.S. will appoint an ambassador to Somalia in what a senior official on Tuesday described as show of faith for future stability in the war-ravaged African nation.

Even so, the U.S. has no immediate plans to re-open its embassy in the Somali capital Mogadishu, which has been beset by violence and deadly bombings spurred by the militant network al-Shabab. As recently as two weeks ago, a car bomb outside the national parliament building killed at least seven people, and a senior al-Shabab fighter threatened Americans in a radio broadcast in Somalia.

In a Tuesday speech, U.S. Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman said the decision to name an ambassador to Somalia reflects what she called a sign of the deepening relations between Washington and Mogadishu and “the faith that better times are ahead.”

Western diplomats began increasing ties with Mogadishu after Somali civil activist Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was elected president in September 2012. Washington formally recognized the new government four months later, and Great Britain opened an embassy in Mogadishu’s fortified airport compound last spring.

The U.S. has resisted re-opening its embassy in Mogadishu, which closed in 1991, when Somalia’s government collapsed after years of civil war. American troops were sent to Mogadishu the next year to help stave off the country’s famine on a peacekeeping mission that lasted until their 1994 withdrawal — about five months after the humiliating “Black Hawk Down” debacle in late 1993, when Somali militiamen shot down two U.S. helicopters; 18 servicemen were killed in the crash and subsequent rescue attempt.

In recent years, U.S. diplomats who focus on Somali issues have been based in neighboring Kenya, and travel to Mogadishu periodically to meet with government officials and civil society activists. Sherman estimated about a dozen U.S. diplomats are currently in the Kenyan capital Nairobi working on Somalia.

She did not say who would be nominated as the ambassador to Somalia, adding only that it would happen “soon.”

The united states is committed to President Hassan government this is true but their commitment is conditional he has to deliver for the 2016 there must be some sort of progress the US will try to facilitate and help boost the defense apparatus of Somalia and it will even give Direct Bilateral aid, i Believe some where in early 2015 the First State to State aid Package will reach Mogadishu even through the defense i am hearing the US already is equipping the Somalia army through Djibouti, the United states supports the federal structure of Somalia , but it wants the Somali government to come with the decisions ,its the SFG task to make sure Somalias government can do constitutional reform and implement a federal structure it wishes for the country since the US has given the SFG the full legitimacy now the ball is in the court of the SFG to get things done. The damul jadiid clique has 2 years time to finish the constitutional reform and put the constitution on a referendum i am sure farah topaz is drafting another constitution on the side because this one will not pass post 2016.

its very important that a central govt for somalia (formerly italian somalia) has full control of all its territory from ras kamboni to ras aseyr and eliminate all these clan region entities.....otherwise just balkanized that country into 3 weak states

neighboring countries such as djibouti, somaliland, ethiopia etc should provide all military assistance to the hag lead central govt in xamar in their campaign to wipe out clans fiefdoms like punaniland and juba admin
