Kismayo, if peaceful can become as large as Mogadishu or Hargeisa.
It sits at the mouth of the largest river in somalia, has a world class port and airport, and has paved roads. Kismayo will expand exponentially as peace reigns. It is already growing quickly, let us see how it turns out. :eat:
Indeed brother if we could hold on to the security and peaceful coegsistance of the brotherly people the city would bring so much needed development to the rest of the region. My Abti is a livestock trader who exports camels from jubooyinka through mombasa port and yesterdays deal of MSC line in kismaayo would help the region by exporting livestock from the port for the first time in 25 years.

Yeah I mean Mogadishu is the city of the shebelle and kismayo is the city of the Juba. Kismayo already has urban planning, it should be expanded upon. It also has the potential of becoming the agricultural exporting center of the Juba valley. If the gov of Jubaland manages the city well, you should see me at xeebta ceel cafimad
How is the real estate situation in kismayo??

A friend of mine who works for this NGO bought a five bedroom house somewhere in Sinaay for a good price but in Calanleey and central Kismaayo like Farjano you could a buy a property 70 to 80k. A lot of people are starting from scratch thus buying plots mostly. Australian diaspora are the most buyers I heard.

Somali standards is all we're talking about bro. If we're talking about international standards then We are living like dogs. Somalia always says 'potential, potential, potential' but bottom line is after awhile that line gets old. We live in a 'Show Me' world and Somalia never has anything to show.
I don't judge things by Somali standards. These ugly houses with aluminium sheets as roofs or poor city planning and narrow roads is not something to make ranking about. Hence why I mentioned the potential our country has. Because at the moment Djibouti though it is not so 'woow' is the most modern and developing Somali city.

Nothing wrong with mentioning the potentials and discussing the potentials the country has, because potential is just another word for 'planning'. We have the natural resources and best location so our future looks bright, however it is only a question of will Somalis unite for the sake of their country and make peace or will they continue putting their clan loyalty at first and continue bickering over ideologies, handouts and power. At the moment we have a lot of pessimistic Somalis around, and you are one of them by patronising people that discuss the 'potential' the country has. Those people are optimistic and that's what we need.

some people in here are actually trying to compete. somalia at the moment has zero urban planning.
not a single shantytown qualifies to be a town, let alone a city.
mogadishu was the only city somalia had because it had modern urban planning before the civil war.
like i said before, any coastal settlement in somalia has the potential to boom and surpass any coastal settlements/towns/cities in africa
primarily due to somalia's strategic location.
raaskamboni, kismaayo, marka, mogadishu, baraawe, hobyo, garacad, eyl, bender beyla, raas hafun, raas caseyr, boosaaso, laasqoray, xiis, berbera,
and seylac all have the potential to become vibrant cosmopolitan cities in somalia.

Not all coastal town can boom. Only coastal towns with modern sea port or coastal towns that have tourism potential. In Somalia the towns surrounding fertile land or rivers have the biggest potentials.

But it also depends on the government and how they allocate/distribute wealth. It is not only the job of the town people but the government to develop a city. This is not a city state type of country, unless if it is what you aiming for since all these tribal states resemble city state like of governance. But when we look at the normal standard of developed countries it is the role of the government to establish towns or develop existing towns. That's why the towns of Somalia looks ugly today because everyone is building what they want and where they want. There is no sense of law and order when it comes to establishing a modern city in Somalia.

Ximanjaale:

If there is no rules or law then the people of the said towns needs to come up with organisation that relegates this kind of planning.
But your overall point is good and would most likely be applied in a ideal scenario but for now, the so called gov is incompetent to provide a glass of water to their citizens let alone city planning. Let's not wait for this goverment.

Angolan civil war took place for 26 years. And it took merely 5 years to transform their economy and develop their towns and cities. If Somalia gets a functioning government that nobody spoils then Somalia can also boom within 5 years. Somalis are impatient and expect things to change quickly hence why they so hesitant to attack the government and they immediately become pessimistic. How are we ever going to have a functioning government when people just want the government to fail because the president is not from the same clan as them? It is like Somalis are hoping for the government to fail, what sort of logic is that?

Lets say we create this organisation that role plays the role of the government, do you think this is feasible when the whole country cannot unite. We will have different organisations popping out everywhere.

What Somalia needs is to gear towards the 21st century which is to establish a country that can live together in peace without the means of division or creating so-called mini governments.

True and sad. Somalis are extremely tacky people but also they have low standards. Come Mogadishu your stomach will churn with disgust. They have turned this once elegant city into a tacky jungle. No law and order what so ever. Every retard builds what he wants and where he wants.

The damaged bullet ridden buildings look much elegant and classy than those buildings that are intact and being build today wallahi no joke. There are like shanty towns in every section of the city with the ugly aluminium roofs and colourful weak tacky walls.
