Who determines the interest of a Clan Qabiil

Postby Khalid Ali » Mon Jun 23, 2014 5:55 pm

I have always wondered who really determines the interest of a qabiil is it more individually based is it the interest mostly build on grievances how does the political interest of a qabiil evolve. And who determines the interest of a qabiil is the politician or the elder, or both and how far do Somalis want to go with the Sub clan nature of interest. I think politicians mostly hijack the interest of a qabiil and try to climb the ladder, along the way they say they represent the interest of their people qabiil mostly, but they are mere representatives. They dont determine, the interest of a qabiil, what we see on Somali channels is festivals organized for the various Somali qabiils people welcoming their qabiil leaders. I believe the little man determines the interest of a qabil, but there are other factors to and thats my question

The factors are envy and greed.

The old nomadic concept of anigu aan noolaado, adiguna noolan meysid.

Good question.

Well done for posing such a fantastic question, I never asked myself this.

I believe the rich, the powerful determine the interest of the clan, most of the time it is aligned with their personal interest which they push on others.

I think we all push our individual interest and sub-clan interest whether we are a cleaner or a warlord, what ever sentiment, interest the majority share is then becoming the mainstream interest of the Clan as a whole.

Many times you have groups of clan determining the interest of the clan, these groups can be business men, a powerful sub-sub-clan, a collection of powerful families or respected families etc.

In this day and age, clan interest is not survival, it is mostly illegitimate interest, a frightful nonsense that has overtaken the peninsula and lead to the mess we are in.

I always look at a clan and analyse their legitimate clan interest, I don't regard all clans interest to be bad, some are legitimate.

Yes it could be the rich influential people i believe the diaspora shapes the interest of a qabil what so funny is that , they dont even live in the country. I said who determines the interest of the qabil not what, another question we should ask our selves is who sets the ideology of a qabiil for example Majeerteen federalism Hawiye centralism, is that more or islamism. qabiil represents the people and some times people do not represent the qabiil.

The 1% that are the sole beneficials of any society determines the interest of the said group.

For instance if you take example of hawiye people, who benefits from their continues wars? Definitely not the cheerleading people. They are infact receiving the harsh end of the deal. Grieveness, despair and death whilst their warlords are bathing in caramel vanilla flavoured wine in bath tubs.

Who benefits from the continues isku dir of the good people in burco and gaalkacyo, what is the common man benefiting from the man made division within a single city?

The benefactors of any instigation are in reality few men most of the times in cooperation with men from the supposedly enemy group...

Qabiil interests are evil and those clan meetings should be banned

Khalid Ali how do you feel when different clans hold meetings in Hargeisa?
