For the sake of the future sanity of the somali race I advocate inter-tribal marriage and call for marriages within a tribe to be made illegal. According to WHO stats, 1 in 3 somalis are crazy. That's ludicrous. No nation can function, let alone prosper, with so many crazy people. I blame inbreeding and khat.

I also advocate intermarriage with our neighbours the oromo and the afar to introduce new blood into the community.

I'd prefer Afar to Ormo any day.

If intra-clan marriage was the cause of all these ailments, Arab nations would be at the top of the list. They all marry their first cousins from their fathers side, talk about genetically warped people.

I know of no Somali married to their cousins -- first, second or third. If you are from the north, marry a girl from the south, and vice versa. We will also eliminate clannism with this approach.

Afars though they hate us. Oromo, only the Afaan Qaalo, rest look like their Amhara bantu cousins.

Ancient China use to have this policy, since their surnames was their clans name, you couldn't marry the Zane surname.

This is hardly applicable since firstly many somali (sub) clans only border clans from their own paternal heritage. Secondly somalis because of tribal animosity have closed off themselves within certain regions/towns so there is hardly any intermixing, Lastly Somalis clan identification is patriarchal as in only the father is recognised - the mother contribution (apart from personal sentimental reasons) to one's clan identification is pretty much zilch. Many of the worst warlords who have caused worst harm to somalia ( and have especially targeted maternal side in clan battles) are mixed.

I reckon the rampant mental illness within our communities have a lot to do with PTSD coupled with Somalis reluctance to seek psychiatric help. 9 times out of 10 the parents or relatives a crazy man will get him married off after years of Quran saar.

Personally, I’m high-proof …parents were cousins twice (2 of the grandparents were siblings and the other 2 were 1st cousins), similarly, the great grandparents were related. I don’t particularly see anything wrong with keeping it in the family so long as kibir is not the reason

I think it has more to do with children being made while the spouse is high on qat. This phenomenon is new and so is this psychological mental break downs..

I also propose somalis get rid of their patrynomic surnames and adopt tribal surnames. It would create greater qabiil transparency and expose nepotism.
