MOGADISHU (HOL) — Negotiations are expected to resume in Turkey between the Federal Government of Somalia and the self-declared independent state of Somaliland.

The Somaliland delegation will include Minister of Presidential Affairs Hersi Ali Haji Hassan, Foreign Minister Mohamed Bihi Yonis, and other deputies.

Delegates representing the Federal Government of Somalia are also expected to arrive in Turkey in the coming hours.

Talks are due to begin; however, no official date has been released by the Turkish government on when the negotiations will resume.

Negotiations between the Federal Government of Somalia and Somaliland were previously stalled due to political infighting within Somalia's executive branch.

Somaliland, situated in northwestern Somalia, unilaterally declared independence from the rest of the African country in 1991.

Somaliland is pushing for international recognition as an independent country, but Somalia’s Federal Government says that it is committed to maintaining a unified nation.

Guys the talks are for show for the westerners to view PHOTO up and for us in Somaliland it is to show we are willing to do what the European Union asked Somaliland and Somalia to clarify their future relations, the talks seem to be not important now because there isnt any talks about any important issue but we are paving the road for that we must first let these talks fail first in la kala kaco its a long process , i think its good , its the best way to kill the cancerous union.

^ mudug I didn't mention because when I say the "south" I mean all of the former italian somalia colony and not south-central somalia which starts from mudug downwards
