German Ambassador to Kenya and Somalia, Andreas Peschke visited Kismayo, the capital of Jubbaland in Southern Somalia. He was part of an EU delegation, together with Ambassadors from the EU, France, Great Britain and Sweden.
Also part of the delegation was IGAD, and General Mingiardi, head of the EU training mission to the Somali Armed Forces.

The delegation met with the Interim Jubbaland Administration, led by its leader Ahmed Mohammed Madobe.

The visit was aimed at expressing support to the establishment of federal structures and strong regions in Somalia, as well as the fight against Al-Shabaab and other terrorist groups. Discussions focussed on the efforts by the Interim Administration to bring peace and development to the Jubbaland region. An important next step is the creation of a Regional Assembly to represent the people of this region.

Ambassador Peschke extended the greetings by the German government and its support to the hard work of the people of Somalia to bring back peace and stability to their country. Germany is a friend and a partner of the people of Jubbaland and Somalia.

Kismayo is an ancient city with an important port and long trade links across the Indian Ocean.

Is Fartaag still part of the clique in Kismaayo. All this time I was under the impression he was discarded like a used condom.
