tribal societies like somalis need to have a wealth or strategic interests

Postby sahal80 » Sat Mar 14, 2015 7:06 am

For stability reasons

Except the cold war era, the somali peninsula had not economical or strategic interests that would attract the westren powers except for france who has seen djibouti a strategic place to confront italy in the south and the anglo-egyptian powers on the north west and a passage that can link her presence in north africa and the atlantic sea from both sides

Its the reason why france has called djibouti the french somaliland/the french somali coast after moving its administration from the afar district of ebok in the north of djibouti to give a political and more geographical meanings-the larger indian ocean- to its presence!

The US has inherited the uk in many parts of the world after the second world war due to the laters economical collapse and the former aiding her and europe generally to recover economically

But one of the gulf countries that still is dominated by the UKs commpanies as the largest investor of this country, plus the uks military presence is oman

Its a long history that goes back to their history in east africa and zinjibar

Uk has also the same relations with jordan who's its king is half british

It had also relations with the pre-islamic revolution of iran

Oman is the poorest gulf country as there's no immense oil production but its a rich country comparing to the rests of arabs and africans

Not just oil they r also great at trade and fishery

It was shyt before sultan qabus removed his father, oman was built by this man

In the 70s, he faced a serious rebellion from mahara/dhofar backed by the communist regimes in the region like ethiopia

Thanks to britain, the mahara rebellion has been crushed forever!

Jordan and iran have partaked it too

Its the reason why oman was giving somalia its british jet fighters bc of the ethiopian involvement in dhofar

Oman is an important country for somalia
