Lol Why are they restoring a symbol of Italian hegemony?? That church was built by forced labor from Somali freedom fighters, restoring it means accepting that history.

It's history that can't be erased it's documented history. Rebuilding and restoring a building won't change that and frankly Somalis from the south need to learn what religious tolerance means

The radical southerners need to be rehabilitated and the best way is giving them a Shia shrine and a Catholic church. Welcome back Mussolini. After all Catholic Italians built Mogadishu. If it wasn't for them it would be just another southern village with daily niiko and people carrying bananas on their heads....and of course donkeys.

There are more mosques in some cities in North America than so-called Muslim countries. Isn't it a hypocrisy at its best that we come to these countries build mosques freely, yet we don't want to award the same rights to non-Muslims in Muslim countries. I don't get it.

Also, the Mogadishu Cathedral is part of Mogadishu history and identity and should be restored.

I'm all for restoring the Catholic Church, but shouldn't we focus on maintaining security in Mogadishu first? One can only imagine Al-Shabaab fanatics openly targeting this church and trying to destroy it, so there needs to be a lot of security around this building.

This church will be an easy target, and hence rebuilding it right now is a bad idea.

:snoop: No just no.

That yard is a construction site where they make tiles. How stupid can someone be to believe that you can renovate the cathedral at this time in Xamar. These qaldaans lack common sense.

Original Dh!lo the hypocrite

I remember a few weeks ago someone made a thread about an old Anglican Church in Hargeisa
that was sold by the government and was being renovated for some other purpose by the buyer.
He used it as a tribal insult but here he is fine with the one in xamar being rebuilt.

lol @ Aisha
