No. He's saying that clans have more commonalities with those they live closer to. Nothing more. Its like saying Habar Awal in the west have more in common with Gadabursi and Issa clans than they do with Issaqs in the East. There are micro-cultural variations among Somalis, even in Somaliland. This has nothing to do with kinship, its just a matter of proximity.
In my initial post, I said, "Buuhoodle and Boosaaso are the same ish. The same people/clan live in both cities.". My statement never had anything to do with micro-cultural variations, dialects and whatnot, which my friend Jugjugwacwac seemed to be hellbent on proving something that is irrelevant to my initial point. Furthermore, my initial post was also a response to a member that said the Somali refugees that arrived in Boosaaso from Yemen that were originally from Buuhoodle went to Buuhoodle. I said, there is no point for them to go to Buuhoodle, when Boosaaso is their home as well, due to both cities belonging to the same people/clan.
I hear you. Why not Buuhoodle if they are from there. If I had closer relatives in Borama, I'd go there instead of Lughaya. They went where their subclan is in greater numbers, seems logical enough.

Again, you're bringing something I haven't touched on into the discussion at hand. Boosaaso and Buuhoodle are two cities settled by the Daarood tribe. That was my initial point. But, I guess you want to break it down into subclans, right? Both cities are settled by the Kablalax subclan of the Daarood. Should we further continue to break it down into sub-subclan? Okay, let's do it. Both cities are settled by the Kombe subclan, which is a subclan of the Kablalax and the Kablalax is a subclan of the Daarood. Should we further break it down into a sub-sub-subclan? Okay, for the sake of argument, let's do it. Both cities are settled by the Harti subclan, which is a subclan of the Kombe and the Kombe is a subclan of the Kablalax and as you already knew, the Kablalax is a subclan of the Daarood. Potato Patato, like I said in my initial post, both Buuhoodle and Boosaaso are the same ish, settled by the same people/clan. Capicé?

Though all Somalis generally share the same culture, there are some regional differences. The Dulbahante of Buuhoodle are part of the geeljire hawd culture. The people of Bosaaso are mostly reer magaal and/or fishermen and have few connections to the miyi and camel culture. Lets just say for war and suugaan i'm going with reer Buuhoodle, and for business and politics i'm going with reer Boosaaso.
:snoop:

the only xoolo Reer Bosaso have is geel. It is the only animal that can survive there. Even the little girls in Bari waa geeljire because there are no sheep or goats.

Ninku marku wax ka hadlayo waa in uu ka hadlo wax u yaqaan.

Fair enough. I still think reer Buhuudle have more in common with reer Buhuudle and are closer to each other than they are to reer Bossaso which could explain their decision. It's as simple as that. This was my point all along. With that being said, why wouldn't they go to Buhuudle. I'm sure Bossaso is a nicer location.

Again, I did not mention anything to do with commonality. All Somalis have certain things in common and certain things they don't. That's irrelevant when it comes to kinship really. It's more irrelevant to my initial point. Buuhoodle and Boosaaso are two cities located in Northern Somalia settled by the same Somali clan family as I have proven to you earlier.

Okay let me make this more clear. They want to be settled in a city/township that they have even closer subclan ties too. That might be the rationale.

Yes. Let me give you an example. If my mother and brothers are in one city or my first cousins for that matter why would I want to be settled where my fourth cousins are located. It's a matter of priority/hierarchy.

Sophi, to someone in Buhoodle the Ogaden in Badhadhe or Joorey, in the middle of the rainforest, is closer than the Isaaq in Qorilugud.
That is the real truth.

Reer Galbeed have some type of deegan/sharing culture thing, but that does not apply to Darood who are purely a pastoral clan.

Lol from subclan to immediate family? Again, let me take you back to my initial point to end this useless conversation. Buuhoodle and Boosaaso are two cities that are both settled by the same people/clan [Daarood].

Fascinating stuff. I've learned something new today I shall not project sxb as I am from the Galbeed.

June on the other hand didn't do a good job at explaining his worldview.

Exactly my point. Blood is far more important than anything and everything, be it cultural, dialect and even regional differences. I would've commented about Borama and the Gadabursi, but unfortunately that wouldn't be fair on Sophisticate. lol

Why do some people assume that Dhulos and Warsangeli have more in common with the Isaaq clans they border when they also border the Majerteen?

I see some people are even troubled by the idea that Isaq and Daarood subclans can have something in common.

Can Someone remind me what was meant by....oodi ab ka dhow.

Doesn't a dhulbahante has more in common with HJ than Ogaden? Or Jibriil Abokor having more in common with a Gadabuursi than a Sacad Yonis (HY) in bari?

Can't believe some people are so cuqdad driven they can't even bring themselves to acknowledge commonalities between subclans who lived side by side for centuries.

Or does accepting simple and undeniable facts makes one a traitor?

Cajiiib!!!
