My Walaweyn brothers and sisters, as usual you have misunderstood what I was trying to communicate. My point was not about the protest, mudaharaadku meel kasta ayuu ka dhacaa caalamka, waa wax iska caadiya. My point was about the embarrassing and the crippling political dysfunction created by the clan federalism your leaders adopted. Maamul dawladii dhexe xidhiidhka u jaraya markuu rabo and a system that promotes it to happen . How many years will it take you to understand that silly clan administrations is not the way forward if you want to have a functioning and democratic country that better looks after its citizens and respected around the world? another 25 years or more?
They already know that, well, at least the enlightened ones.

Unless a major reconciliation take place between the Somali people, and all disputes are settled (blood money, property, land etc...) Nothing substantial will ever materialize. That said, I don't think even centralism will work with the current deep waswaas and distrust among the southerns. At this rate, everything will stay the the same. A lot of people confuse military gains with the political situation. But hey .....

Based, my Siyaadist friend, do you disagree that clan federalism is the biggest obstacle to Somalia?
I hope you don't throw your pointless and predictable argument that Somaliland is part of Somalia and is a clan state. Even if your wish was realised and Somaliland accepted to be part of Somalia, establishing a system that promoted clan federalism would have been wrong.

The institution of qabiil is the biggest obstacle to a viable Somali state.

Clan federalism is just another symptom of a culture desperately in need of an overhaul.

As for your other point, until Somaliland is a recognized and sovereign state, they are part and parcel of Somalia. If anything, the establishment of SL and the subsequent unilateral declaration of secession gave rise to this system and set an unfortunate precedent.

Rambie,
In that case let Waloos bicker ilaa qiyaamuhu dhacayo.
Still,my hope is to see a strong and united Somalia that accepts the rights of Somalilanders to leave the union they voluntarily joined when they were independent country.
My hope is to see one day two strong, independent, friendly and cooperating Somali countries, leaving side by side.

My Siyaadist friend, wax common knowledge ah uun baad ka hadashay ee wax cusub maad sheegin, every sane person knows that the institution of qabiil itself is the biggest problem for any Somali state . The question is how do you solve the problem of the qabiil in the long run and at the same time minimise it's negative effects in the short and medium term.

In the Somali context, it is easily demonstrated that institutions and how you organise your governance system can have a big impact on how ordinary people behave when it comes to qabyaalad. A system that guarantees for the ordinary person equality for opportunities whichever qabiil or region one may belong to, reduces greatly one's passion for tribalism and tribal identification. Nepotism and corruption in politics at the other hand exacerbate greatly the negative effects of Somali tribalism. It creates a tribal conflict and competition for the merger resources. An ideal system would reduce nepotism and corruption in all levels of governance to nearly zero. If you are unfortunate to chose between two systems only, a system of clan federalism or decentralised unitary system, it is easy to understand that the later system is the better one and better suited to Somali people.
And contrary to your argument, clan federalism is not just another symptom of the Somali culture , but it is actually a choice. A choice that can be rejected and replaced to an existing alternative system.
And one more thing to add is that democratic, representative and decentralised unitary system doesn't equal to Afweyne dictatorship, as I have seen many Somalis utter that nonsense in debates.
Your last point where you insinuated that Somaliland is responsible for the clan federalist constitution Somalia adopted is laughable.

That's exactly what I was asking myself as I read his statement. Talk about being deluded.
