president of Somalia’s federal government Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has confirmed Friday that African Union forces (AMISOM) will move out of Mogadishu stadium, a football facility in the capital.
“I and AMISOM commanders agreed upon to vacate the AU soldiers from Mogadishu stadium and several educational buildings in the country, to allow citizens regain the grounds for their football and education purposes,” said president Hassan.
Addressing at a colorful ceremony held in Mogadishu to mark his third year in office, Somali president said AMISOM is committed to leave the public facilities, including Mogadishu stadium and Gahays university.
The UN-mandated African Union troops known as (AMISOM) have been housing Mogadishu stadium and several other public buildings in Mogadishu as military bases since their first arrival in Somalia in 2007.
