CeelBuur was under economic blockade by Al shabaab. Thus the locals couldn't survive and abandoned it. The govt troops with AMISOM could not lift the blockade.

Thus the major problem with this fake powerless Government. Ceelbuur is no tuulo it is a proper historic Somali town and for it to end up completely deserted is pretty sad. Lakiin one thing I know for sure is reer Ceelbuur are 100% loyal Al Shabaab followers and are indeed paying the ultimate price. Some of the biggest battle between Al Shabaab iyo Ethiopia have occurred in and around Ceelbuur with Al Shabaab always having the upper hand.

Bisinka! Magaaladoodii SaaS bay u egtahay hiiraan bayna afka ku soo taagayaan dadd uu abdi caynte ka mid Yahwey...

I have met this guy who just came back from xamar at an abgal shop....the guy was talking rubbish about the govt and the army meantime praising al shabab-controlled area...I was going to believe him as I didn't know his clan but soon he left the shop, the shop owner has said to me without asking about him "murursade waaye xabo haka soo qaadin warkiisa!"

Funny is that this guy smokes and chews khat yet he supports al shabab! I guess they have political issues!
