One of my favorite is the Cushitic Agew people who contributed a lot to the region with their long civilization. What makes more interesting is the fact that others mainly Habesha minorities stole their history, civilization and legacy.
The Agews were the greatest Ethiopian rulers and the true Negusa Nagast.
They ruled almost 400 years without any distruption and further another 900 years on and off with Amharas but the lion take was definitely them who achieved the great construction of Axum Oblisk, which is actually a symbol Cushitic groups first discovered in Ancient Egypt, Lalibela (including importation of Judaism to Africa hence Falasha/Beta Israelis are Agew), Fasilides including the Gonder compound.
The Habesha try to sell us the hard pill of some "Christian King" (King Ezana) building the Oblisk. First of all he only lived for 40 years and why would a Christian build something that paid tribute to the Egyptian Gods?
The Egyptians who called them Tekhenu built them to symbolise the Sun God or Ra. As you know the word qor'rax in Somali means "the neck of Sun God" hence is a Cushitic word.

Agew Tekhenu built under the almost 400 year old Zagwe dynasty. Compare who can build a man who lived for 40 years or dynasty that lasted almost 400 years?
Then they built a series of Churches that not only honored Christianity but Judaism as well. The Agew King, Lalibela, wanted to rebuild Jerusalem after European Crusaders conquered the city.
He built about 11 monolithic (carved from one stone/mountain) Churches.

The Agews also found and built Gonder including the Fasilides Castle/compound under Emperor Fasilides.
In the same era the Agew Emperor built the Sebara Dildiy bridge in Gonder.

Meanwhile the Amhara...
In music and arts they not only dominate, they gave Ethiopia almost all of its rich culture.
Here are the Agews from Lasta in Wollo namely the Seqota area, which was once the capital of Agew Empire (Wagshum).
Today the Tigrais claim them but hide their true history/identity.
The Agews in northern Ethiopia and the Bilen (also Cushitic) are related. Both are great fearless warriors just like their Cushitic relatives namely Somalis, Oromo, Bilen, Afar, and Sidamo.
Be open minded and listen to their music and you will see the distant voices of once close relative. Many Somali words can be found in Agew.
I will let you know once I do full collection.
You can see they carry everything that we carry including hangool, bud, bakoorad, gudin (axe), caday (traditional toothbrush), shanlo ama gadhfeedh (comb) and fandhal and everything else including dhiil. Xata berigi hore Somalidu subaga timahay saran jiren ama ku dhashi jiren. Nimankani ila hada way sameeyan. Wa asal.
Are they really saying sheeko doon? Ya Gabadhow? Walaale/Xalaale?
The shoulder dance or eskista is actually Agew traditional dance and the Habesha adopted from the Agews. The Agews are very versatile and can perform eskista in so many ways but Habesha are very limited to flapping or vibration. I will show you differences another time. Stay tuned. Beenti Habeshida is getting busted big time.
Many Agews sing in Amharic and people give credit to Amhara but once you know the difference it's easy to tell. It's more harder to tell the difference between Oromo groups such as Rayyaa and Iyeeju from Agews.
