Kenya: Lamu, what a beautiful city

Postby AwRastaale » Fri Jul 01, 2016 2:17 am

I didn't know the coastal town of Lamu was both historical and very charming.

It is very beautiful with some classical architecture. Can someone tell me who settles there. Are Muslims the majority because I see a lot of old mosques in the town.

Also did the architecture come from Arabs?

Somalis were very close to taking it in the 1800s.

North Coast of Kenya from Malindi to Lamu is built by Italians and arab muslims from Oman and Yemen.
Lamu and Malindi also have a lost chinese community who found new home during Hui-Chinese explorer, when fleet admiral, Zhen traveled to east africa.
