Somalia has abandoned the Italian language too, English is a global language and must be taught in schools.

Somalia, other independent Somali republics three official language must be Somali, English and Arabic. Schools will also have German, Russian and Chinese as an optional language in Dugsi Saare/College.

Why do we need Arabic as a language? Who speaks it and with whom?

good question, arabic is also ditched mostly, schools that base arabic on their curriculums have the worst possible form of education, those who graduated from arabic schools and went to learn in english based universities know what i am talking about.
i used to get 50 bucks from those arab school graduates just to teach them survival english, their success rate in uni was 36%.

It's a shame that SOMALI isn't even the official language of Djibouti.
