I believe it actually, Godane has had a hit out on Mukhtar Roobow for years now, and he's been complaining about his guys (the Rahanweyn troops) being treated like dirt by the foreigners and northern Somalis who make up most of the Shabab leadership but not the soldiers (most Shabab soldiers are Rahanweyn)

i doubt it godane has been dead for 2 years now the new.leadership is actually now from the south so i doubt he would be resentful towards godane the former emir of shabaab.. roobow is a great islamist hard liner he is not the type like sharif or dahir aweys

It depends on how you look at it. If Farmaajo intends to replace AMISOM with Abu Mansur's forces and refight the 2006 unification of Somalia only as the recognized government this time around, then this isn't surrender so much as switching sides.

Some of the nationalistic shabaab will defect now that Farmaajo is elected kulaha. Op ma hurudaa? Shabaab and nationalism don't go together. The next scheduled qarax is the 25th. We will see how Farmajo deals with this
How do you know about their qarax schedule?
Looking at the patterns of qaraxs that occurred nearly every 2 months, sometimes the months are consecutive and fall on either 25, 26, or 27th. Seems to be the wholly days for them.

somali al shabab elements like abu mansour and hizbul islam have connections with eritrea and farmajo will restore relations with eritrea. one of his close circles is zakariya expected to be a minister he has relations with asmara
but we have to understand that the pro-ethiopian militia ahlussuna have welcomed him too and said they will join the SNA
Ethiopia has the security card in koonfur and can even assassinate him. it will take for two years to replace ethiopia with other forces. he must work first on the alternatives.

An Islamist-Nationalist alliance has happened before, the 2000-2004 government allied with what would later become the UIC and only failed due to the strength of the warlords. The situation is much different now and a strong nationalist government can reunify the country, it's happened before in other countries like China.

They mostly will break up into some who surrender, some who enter talks, and some who will keep fighting.
